Default Need help with GWX slide-out compass

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up my new installation with Conus00's widescreen mod for GWX - so far it looks great, but since the big slide-out compass wasn't included I wanted to add it back in. Poked around here and found some info, after which I added what I think is all the necessary stuff from the GWX menu_1024_768.ini and Dials.cfg files into the files in Conus00's mod and renumbered stuff where needed.

I edited the following bits of the menu ini

[G3F I300]
Name=FLB Sale`s 6 Anzeigen, Kompass
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F0C0000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=678,476,344,344 (changed 678 to 1014)
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
HorizSlide=344

[G3F I301]
Name=Group feedback
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F010020; 0x3F010000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=678,476,344,344 (changed 678 to 1014)
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
HorizSlide=344

and got the compass to appear in the right place in the WS display. BUT when I click on it, nothing happens - the game doesn't respond by changing course (the little compass dial at the bottom right works fine).

So... what else do I need to edit or add to make it actually WORK?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

EDIT: Never mind, I think I figured it out.

Well alrighty then. If you run into more trouble I can probably help, since I've installed the Simfeeling 6-Dials mod so many times, and the big compass was taken from that.

That's how I knew there were instructions here somewhere, because I remembered you talking about it before.

What happened was, I added the chunk for the dial into Dials.cfg and then forgot about increasing the number of dials in the Dials=xx at the top. Then I remembered and went back to look at it and it said Dials=72 and I knew the one I added was Dial72 so I thought it was fine. And then I remembered that the dials started with Dial0 so adding Dial72 made it 73 dials, not 72 dials. I am so smart! S-M-R-T SMART!

Anyway I fixed that and went back in and it's there in the right place and the helm responds when I click it and that was as far as I got because it was bedtime but it seems like that would be all there is to it so I think I'm good.

Default Entry for Dials.cfg

Frau Kaleun, could you be so kind as to provide the entry you made for the Dials.cfg file. I plan to follow your steps for the Menu.ini and Dials.cfg to update my install of Conus00's Widescreen Mod for GWX. Thx

Okay, this is what I added to the end of Dials.cfg in Conus's WS mod:

[Dial72]
Name=CompassFdbk
Type=12; DIAL_GYROCOMPASS
Cmd=Set_course,Crew
Dial=0x3F010022
CrtVal=0x3F010026
NewVal=0x3F010025
DialVal=-180,180
RealVal=-180,180; degrees
Circular=Yes
Dynamic=Yes

Plus making the change at the top of the file from

[DIALS]
DialsNo=72

to

[DIALS]
DialsNo=73

Other than that, and the menu ini edits noted above in the first post, I'm pretty sure that's all I did to get the big compass back and working.

This might be alittle late but thanks for this post. I was trying to add a Depth Dial from the 6 Sim mod to my NYGM setup and I was going nuts trying to figure out why the blasted thing wouldn't work. This post saved me!!!!!!
