Surprised there is not a thread on it yet

Anyone else impressed by this or is it just me?

I am impressed by the sheer graphics quality.

I'm considering to get this on day one release. Still a long time to release though. November 2011 I believe.

I never thought BF would be able to tempt me. I'm coming from the one of those worshiper of hardcore mil sim such as ArmA 2.

But seeing is believing. BF 3 is too pretty to be missed. Weird thing is I think my preference in gaming has been getting milder. I used to be interested in merely sim games but now I found myself enjoying arcade games as well. To be honest sometimes too much simming can feel like you're toiling and working than gaming. After all games are just that games.

Castout I'm sure eventually there will be some hardcore realism mods for the game, like was done with Bf2

When you hit 40 the realism goes out the window. BF is mainly focus on the multiplayer, if you liked ArmA game style it might take a while to get use to the easy mode Battlefield games. But its way more satisfying.

BF3 is spefically engineered to beat Cod. Don't expect much beyond "Generic Manshoot #563".

The snipes back and forth between Riccitiello and Kotick are hilarious though.

What they've said is if you can run BF:BC2 and have a DX10 card it'll run. Don't know how well, but it'll run. I currently get around 40fps in BF:BC2, but a new card will be on the way in the next year, I hope

Battlefield 3 requires Origin: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/08/12/ba...rigin-to-play/

Not sure what that means though. Maybe just that you need to have it installed. Or maybe that you need to log in before playing, amounting to yet another always-on DRM. Time will tell.

That's what the articles state, yes.

I'm just wondering why they would require you to install what amounts to a download manager. Wouldn't surprise me to learn you actually need to have it running, as opposed to merely installed.
