And as a historical note, my favorite sub jockey of WWII, Gene Fluckey of the Barb was awarded his Congressional Medal of Honor for a.........wait for it.......HARBOR RAID! Of course he also sunk a train so he was a bit off, you know.

Dr. Merc
Thanks for the time you put into your guide you posted. Very detailed. I'm by no means a expert at SHIV, but I'm always looking for tips and that sort of thing. Thanks. |

Glad you enjoyed it, big guy. The fun thing about SH4 is that, like baseball, the more you learn about it, the more you enjoy it. And between hunting down convoys, stalking task forces from 350' below, to raiding Tokyo Harbor, there's always something to do. I raided Kobe Harbor tonight and it took me about a hour to escape with my hide, especially after a scout plane radioed in my position and three destroyers headed my way, determined to have me for a midnight snack. Four torps later and Kobe was mine. I grabbed my magazine guide, and three torps later the flattop, battleship and heavy cruiser that usually hang out there were on my mantelpiece.
I usually wait until night before sinking the big girls, just because the flames dancing across the deck and engulfing the screaming sailors always look so bright and colorful against the nighttime sky. Aesthetics are everything in my book. :) |
