Is there a model of V1 and V2 flying bombs for SH3?

And some ship with sails? (a frigate, corvette, galeon, the Nelson´s Victory, etc).

Best regards.

Fitzcarraldo [/QUOTE]

The only V1 i know is from GWX. But there is a lovely Pamir from trainer1942.
Best regards

There are three scripting layers in SH3:
_LND. This is for land based units such as coastal defences, air bases and ports. I haven't delved into the _LND layer so that's about all I can tell you!

_SCR. This is for scripting named ships into the campaign, so if you want the RMS Aquitania to follow her historic routes you can research the Aquitania's history and input it's route into the _SCR layer. You can also create groups around the Aquitania to allow it to sail with, for example, a modern tanker and four destroyers. The only randomisation available to the _SCR layer is around each waypoint. If you randomise the size of the waypoints you also randomise the ships routes.

_RND. This is the clever layer as there are a number of ways you can randomise:
1. Randomise groups. You can tell SH3 to randomise the content of convoys. The group leader (e.g Aquitania) must have a 100% chance of spawning, but you can then add a V&W destroyer at 100% and four V&W destroyers at 50% each. This means that each time Aquitania spawns SH3 will roll a dice and produce a group with between 1 and 5 destroyers.
2. Randomise ships within a group. There are a number of options for ships in a group so you can either specify a specific ship type (e.g. V&W destroyer) or a type such as GENERIC Destroyer which will search for all destroyers of that nation and pick them at random.
3. Randomised chance of a group spawning. You can also tell SH3 that there is a 75% chance of this group spawning, therefore it will appear three times out of four.
4. Timed group spawning. If, for example, convoys moved from Alexandria to Greece every three days then you can use the _RND layer to spawn a group every 72 hours over a discrete time period.
5. You can also randomise the size of the waypoints to change the ships routes.

Merging all of these possibilities, you can script a convoy with a 75% chance of spawning, following a route from Alexandria to Greece every three days with any number of ships and escorts from one upwards following a different route each time, and all in a 5KB file.

The only piece you have to specify is the nation, so you can randomise neutral ships into a convoy but need to beware your spawn dates.
Thanks WB, very interesting !!!

This is the first of my .mis files to use the RND layer to allow routes to be repeated.

Every night from July 1944 to D Day HMS Bellona steamed from Plymouth to the area of Brest to dissuade German destroyers from deploying into the English Channel and threatening Allied shipping. She usually sailed with an escort of seven destroyers and the group was often known as 'Snow White and the seven dwarves'.

HMS Diadem was another Bellona class light cruiser who after D Day conducted offensive patrols along the Brittany coast, even sinking ships off La Rochelle.

the_frog has created a great model of the Bellona class, just remember that the .mis file needs to be merged into the RND layer:

Again, this is very interesting, Great job! I just wish I could have your skills to do this sort of work. I did once work on converting an English made mission using Enigma machine, into French and changing some timing in it....But that is it
Any way , thanks again WB.....

..Herr Kaleun, permission to translate your post and shared information into French & post them on Millesabord forum ?

Bonne chasse

Great, many thanks!

In the Maik (Plissken) page, there are some links to ships. Is it possible include some japanese warships in the Pacific, for example a Battle of Midway or the attack force to Pearl Harbour? Interesant for a U boat raider in the Pacific...And allied merchant traffic from the Panama Canal (Pacific side) to San Francisco, L.A. and Hawaii.

Best regards.

That seems like a lot of work for very little gain as these merchants are Axis units so shouldn't be sunk and because GWX has already scripted this traffic into the game. It would make an interesting project, but for now I'm sticking with modding traffic in the Atlantic as that's where most players are sailing. On my install I've 'converted' many of molke2005's Japanese merchants into British and American ones and in the past I've done the same with warships. It allows me to appreciate his work without having to sail into the Pacific.

Many thanks, WB! Thanks for your answer about the Pacific. Is it possible to have your japanese "converted" merchants? Many of the japanese merchant ships were originally british. And some ship of WWI times? In my country, Argentina, the navy had all her ships from WWI times in the 40s...

There are some WWI ships in the Maik/Plissken page to download.

Best regards.

That's a little too much like hard work for me, so I've created a quick 'How to change the nationality of a ship'. That should allow anyone to change any ship they like. Just beware that changing the nationality of a scripted ship (such as changing KM Bismarck into a British ship) will lead to CTDs so I recommend only changing generic merchants or add on ships and not those contained in your base SH3 install (Stock / GWX / NYGM etc.)

If anyone would like to translate this 'How to' into German, French, Spanish etc. I'd be very grateful...

If there are specific ships that you would like me to script please give me a link to the file otherwise I end up spending too much time digging through websites and not enough time modding!

Many thanks, WB. I´ll post the links of the WWI ships. The problem is the authorization: It seems the modders are oldies mates, I think they are impossible to contact...

In the thread:

...there are some converted ships from SH5, author Rowi58.

Best regards.

rowi58 has already given his permission but it'll take a while as there are five ships to script. It's a WIP but real life has to take priority.
