Default SH4 crashes on starting Campaign?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get back into SH4 after not playing for a while. The problem is, I can't seem to start a campaign. I'll start a new profile fine, but when I go to actually start a mission, it starts to load, and I get the error "SH4 has stopped working." I'm currently running TMO 1.4, since I don't own the U-boat expansion for SH4, with no other mods installed. I've tried running as an administrator, running in compatibility mode for both Vista and Windows 7, and nothing seems to work. However, I can start single missions and war patrols just fine, it's just the campaign that craps out.

PC specs here:
  • AMD FX-8350
  • 16 GB RAM
  • EVGA GTX 780
  • Seagate 1 TB HDD
  • Win 8.1 64-bit

I'm running the boxed (CD) version of SH4, only patched to 1.4 since again, I don't have the U-boat expansion. I was thinking about just buying the U-boat expansion on Steam or something, but it looks like I would have to buy SH4 again as well. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you made it large address aware?

With specs like those I am sure you maxed everything out and harbors are busy places; you're probably hitting the memory limit.

I run Win7x64. Compatibility mode is unnecessary for me once I apply this.

Just tried the memory fix, no dice. SH4 still crashes.

Sorry, that's the only real idea I had. I'm running 1.5 on Win7.
