Install windows 10

Hi,

I am just new to the forum. I love SH3; I have tried to instal it in windows 10 with not joy.

I cannot be the first to ask, but it wont work, why?

Is there a help guide for win 10, I would be grateful

Thanks, but WOW too much information, that is well above my level; sorry about that.

My laptop had windows 8.1. Sh3 did not run, but used an old XP computer.

Anyway, I upgraded my laptop from 8.1 to windows 10, then installed SH3.

Then the error window INFORMATION and OK on it.

I download the information in the TXT file and did not understand one word of it.

Sorry about this, but can you help.

Did you try running it in Compatibility Mode?

Right-Click the SH3.exe file in your program directory, choose Properties.

Then on the Compatibility tab, in the Compatibility Mode section, check the box titled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and from the drop down list choose "Windows 7".

Hopefully that works for you.

Windows xp pack 2 and 3

Tried different combinations od 640x 480

Reduced colour

I tried disabled scaling

and run as administrator.

Tried all permutations.

I thought it was goning to work, sadly no.

Hi,

I will not tell you how many times I have tried to install following instructions.

I have a couple of questions, if you could help.

1. I have SH4 already installed, (I preferred SH3), will this clash? Do I have to uninstall SH4?

2. I have error message





3. The 1.4 patch will not run, following instructions closely.


Is there anything obvious I am missing.

Tried to install again.

This is the error message I received at the end of the installation.

I waited until the 1.4 was installed as advised before hitting finish. THEN i got the error message.

I am getting close but not there yet.

Could this be a clash with SH4

After what seams about 500 times to instal SH3, I still have no joy.

I have totally uninstalled SH4, and can quote the instructions to the letter.

What is going wrong? I include the error report if someone can advise.
(19.5KB is a very small file to convey the information, so I have deleted most of it to upload it)

SH3 and SH4 will not clash as they should be installed in separate folders.

By the sounds of the number of times you have tried to install SH3 I suspect it must be a dvd.
This will tell you what version you are trying to install.

The dvd you are looking for will be showing ESS632.

The Starforce Free Version will be Black at the Bottom and White at the Top.

A typical File Version showing in Properties is 8.2.160.0

Product Version 1.4.0000

Date modified 18/08/2006

Do not be misled by the silver band at the top of the Dvd case that says Games in white letters which is irrelevant.

The Starforce Version will be Black at the Bottom and Silver at the Top.

These have a Product Version showing in Properties of 1.00.0000

This version does not have the latest patch and has copy write protection.

You can pick up Starforce free versions on Ebay quite cheaply but you must ask the seller the disc colours first so you do not waste your money.

Have you installed SH4 on Windows 10 and run the game successfully?

if its of any value, I installed 10 with no problems what so ever. Boat running smooth, crew seem happy.
