Default WOE is me!

Life can get SO frustrating! I downloaded a Steam copy of SH3 a short while back, and put GWX on the Steam copy and all was fine. Today I wanted to change the crew to speaking German, and that setting crashed the machine before the game loaded - perhaps I should have altered the config in the game folder and not the document folder - so I decided I would start over. Downloaded a fresh copy of SH3, validated it and went to put GWX on again. No mods in games folder, but the GWX mod insists it can detect mods in there and will not continue the install. WhaddoIdo? I looked on web and other folk have had the same problem, but I did not find a solution. Sob....

I would like to have found a solution - but have managed to get the DVD version to install, so am on again, with GWX and German voices - yay!

Congrats on the (finally) successful installation!

I know it can be very frustrating sometimes, when you have to install over and over again until you get it right. I've been messing around trying to reinstall my SH3 and H.sie's and Stiebler's hardcode patchs. Well, after numerous reinstalls and a lot of coffee, I've managed to get it all working again (for now )

Regards,

Reed

For next time, because there always seems like a next time with SH3... I always keep a backup of a clean SH3 install (always until now that is because I can't find the backup. lol). That way if you ever need to reinstall, it's just a copy from one directory to another.

Well, after losing my main (heavily modded) and my backup Sh3 install when my computer died, I now have a backup in a CD and in a pen drive as well. You know, just to be safe. I also remember creating some time ago a backup CD with all my mods and the correct activating order. I wonder where that disk is ... Anyway, will look for it, maybe create another with my new mod list.

Regards,

Reed
