SH II general game problems

OK guys I've been messing around with Pacific Aces for about a year and a half now and got nothing but probs. Had to replace my computer recently so got a new GateWay (big mistake). I've been having the following probs lately.
1. Constant JANUS errors
2. Sometimes not getting credit for reaching objective even though I sail right thru the objective checkpoint.
3. Still looking for the German spy on my boat. The COB is out lookin for him rite now. If the chief finds him, he's gonno go swimming.
4. Latest problem--The subs are American, the targets are Japanese and the dialog is all in German. Can't seem to reset "Translate Crew" back to English.
5. In "Realism" settings nothing seems to work--Can't disable dud torpedos, realistic sailing, limited target data, etc.
6. That's about all---sure hope Silent Hunter IV doesn't have as many probs.
If anybody's got any ideas--let me know. I'm not the least bit interested in playing U-boat skipper although I've got SH III and use it now and then. Rick Martin (the ancient mariner)

I can only give general information/advice.

Generally speaking the PA addon was bug free, except for inherent SH2 bugs which could not be removed because they were hard cored ( like the "save game" bug)

Problems are nearly always traceable to an incorrect install procedure or unsupported option settings. The full correct install of PA does have several opportunities for getting it wrong .

Yes, there is a german spy on board. I believe there were a couple of original sound files that were not replaced.

Could you provide the following :-

Which install are you using ?( full or lite)
What is your exact install sequence ?

Hi, here's the install as I remember doing it.
1. Clean install of SH II
2. Install V1.1
3. Install Pac. Aces (download)
4. Installed Vickers Mods (oil slick, smoke etc.)
5. Installed PA RC4
6. Installed PA V1.1
7. At first everything worked fine but the probs showed up shortly after.
8. I have the Super CD but have never been able to get it to work at all. If I use
the CD the Pacific Aces RC4 appears to stop installing and never finishes. I have to do a download to instal the game.
Did I miss something? Rick Martin

This is what is posted at another thread.

1. Clean Install of SH2, and rename the folder to 'Pacific Aces' or whatever name you prefer.
2. Install the official SH2 Patch 1.1
3. Install Vicker's mods
4. Install Project Messerwetzer to avoid some Janus errors
5. Install PA 1.0, pointing to your 'Pacific Aces' folder.
6. Install PA patch 1.1
7. Install new PA Sound 1.1
8. Install glitche fix patch that includes optional dive bubble for Project Messerwetzer

I think you do not have to do steps 3 & 5, because PA RC4 is what you download. Looks like you are installing TWICE the mod

I think I got it working well now. I have 2 SH II discs, one I bought a long time ago and one that someone gave me. The one I bought was the one I tried to use this time and there might be something wrong with it. I tried again with the other disc and now it seems to be working fine. Thanks to all for your help. Now gotta go and see if I can find and sink Shinano without getting nailed by her escorts. Thanks much guys. Rick Martin
