I noticed that on the map in the u-boat campaign you do not see the icon for approaching aircraft.

I've created a mod that changes the start date in the American Career to allow players to see and hear the December 7th and earlier stuff in both the stock game and my radio mods. Someone on the UBI SH4 forum asked if it was compatible with RSRD. Having never used it before, I downloaded it and checked, and my mod will at the least remove the Narwhal as a boat selection.
Since you use December 6th as the earliest start date, which means stuff from the 7th, 8th, or before still can't be used, I would like your permission to edit your CareerStart.upc by adding in an earlier date, and include that in a new version of my mod that will let users choose which one they need. I may also include RFB and TMO versions if needed and I get permission from them. If the answer is no, that's okay. I didn't want to just do it without asking first in case you didn't want anyone mucking around with your hard work.

is the game supposed to be devoid of shipping?
stock has too many ships but now using RSRDC so far i am lucky to find one ship in any area i am asigned to, is it supposed to be like that? as an example, from leaving pearl i completed 4 assignments in east china sea and 2 near the philippines and i never submerged at all. during this time i only saw 9 planes and came accross 7 ships. it was so deserted i got bored looking for something to shoot at so sailed right past misaki and into tokyo bay where i found a gunboat along with a battleship anchored by yokosuka which blew me out of the water. now near the end of the war i could understand having few ships around but within a few weeks of the pearl harbor attack the japanese were very busy trying to secure their advantage without the US fleet around. is this the way it is supposed to be with hardly any ships around? im using UBM 1.5 and RSRDC 355 with no other mods. |

You aren't looking in the right places, plenty of ships out there in RSRD in traffic lanes.

Is there a random layer for coastal traffic, i.e. coastal craft, fishing vessels, sea trucks, neutral coastal shipping, etc.? All the sort of stuff there is probably no record of other than encounters detailed in patrol reports (into '44-'45, US subs seem to have had very frequent encounters and engagements with coastal craft).

v1.4
I play the stock version of SH4 with no U-Boat Missions installed so my top version is v1.4. Is the RSRDC mod steady and updated for v1.4 just as it is for v1.5 or is the version of RSRDC for v1.4 outdated and unstable? Thanks.

BTW, RSRDC wasn't considered "unstable" for v1.4...

A destroyer or gunboat will shoot even if the docked ship is checked, so if you surface or up periscope they will shoot at you. And if they are 'undocked' they will attack. But, you can't change it from a 'docked' ship to an 'undocked' ship because it won't spawn within 20nm of you. And a trigger won't work on another ship except to make it spawn and move at whatever speed and heading you give it. So, the idea is workable but not the best. The part about destroyers attacking from other ports would work as long as they are 20nm away. They don't even have to come from a port, they could be spawned at sea 20nm away and have waypoints heading to the port and would not even be there unless you triggered a zone, such as entering a port. Otherwise they would never exist. A couple of good examples would be Manila, it's far enough in they could come out to give you a welcoming party. And Rabaul, if you come up from Brisbane and try to sneak in the east way, the north entrance is far enough away they could actually beat you to the harbor. A bit off topic, but if you want to see something funny sneak into Saigon, unless they fixed it with this mod the ships are spawned but not deleted before the next random spawn. There were four crosses in the harbor. (two ships that spawned on top of each other.) Peabody

I am using RSRD over TM (both for ver 1.5) Can I use this mod without messing everything up?
DRB JAP US GB Airbases VS4 desaturated by Capt Cox and Leovampire It shows the ownership and location of airbases throughout the Pacific. A pretty handy mod if it can be used.
