Not sure if he became a doctor...

Becoming interested in the study of medicine during an attack of smallpox, Gatling completed a course at the Ohio Medical College in 1850.

Either way he was better known as an inventor I believe.

HEHE Gatling became interested in medicine. He graduated from the in 1850 with an MD. Although he had his MD, he never practiced; he was more interested in a career as an inventor. The MD sort of oriented his thinking: Gatling invented the Gatling gun after he noticed that a majority of the soldiers fighting in the Civil War were lost to disease rather than gunshots. (true MD logic BBY) In 1877, he wrote:
"It occurred to me that if I could invent a machine – a gun – which could by its rapidity of fire, enable one man to do as much battle duty as a hundred, that it would, to a large extent supersede the necessity of large armies, and consequently, exposure to battle and disease [would] be greatly diminished." In 1893, Gatling patented a Gatling gun that replaced the hand cranked mechanism with an electric motor, a relatively new invention at the time, achieving a rate of fire of 3,000 rounds per minute. The hand-cranked Gatling gun was declared obsolete by the United States Army in 1911. Some one forgot to tell the Iraqi 'Panzer' divisions that! My favorite video!Ironically: with the good doctor's motivation in mind; Because the A-10 has been used so widely, and because it can fire almost 4000 rounds of ammunition per minute, it is responsible for most of the DU (depleted uranium) contamination from the 1991 Gulf war, and for all the contamination in Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Well your close but I'm no Pukka Sahib on third world deities myself..aside from ol' Vishnu 'the destroyer of worlds' But I'll say The Dattatreya Temple in Carapichaima, Trinidad; a proper Brit colony...and closer to Newcastle than India.

Had to look that one up and you are probably correct but where is it situated?

Not India but a Hindu Temple.
