Default New and glad to be here!

Hello all,

I just discovered the site and I am glad I did. Years ago I played Silent Service and loved it. I have searched on and off through the years for a good WW II era US submarine game and just came across Silent Hunter IV (years late I might add). I have been poking around for a day or so looking for the most effective way to get a copy of the software and get it installed with the most important updates. I will be searching this site and probably asking questions after a couple of days.

I got started in Submarines as a kid watching Saturday afternoon war movies. I have to admit, "Run Silent, Run Deep" and "Destination Tokyo" filled my imagination. The underwater scenes just turned me on.

This so affected me that in college I was an NROTC nuclear power candidate and later became a Submarine Medical Officer for Submarine Squadron Ten in Groton, CT. I rode the fast attack boats as often as they would have me. These are the fondest memories of my 23 year career in the Navy.

Well, thanks for having me. I have a lot of searching and reading to do. Any advice on how best to start will be welcome.

Ken
