Exclamation SH3 carsh to desktop

Здравия желаю товарищи моряки.

So, after upgrading my Intel drivers on my Laptop, the game crashes to desktop as soon as I start a new career in SH3. SH4 just crashes on loading the menu.

It's all Vanilla.

The specs are:
8gb Ram
64 bit Windows 8.1
i7-3740QM 2.70GHZ
Nvidia Quadro K1000M

I've checked out the long post on the SH4 crashing, however I'd like to fix the III first and would see if there are any options before editing my registry.

Searched the forum and viewed all three pages in SH3 subforum, but haven't found any posts on this since most deal with crashing on loading a save.

Cheers! (by the way the Herr Kaleun mascot is pretty creepy )

Hi Razoleg
The game crashing while loading a game save will be down to your OS compatibility with SH3.
I have no experience of Windows 8 but it may need to run in Windows 7 or XP mode.
Having updated your drivers you also need to check out your GPU settings.
I would first check this out.

Thank you for your reply, I shall check it out. The thing is, it worked before the update perfectly.

I ran it as admin and compatibility with Vista after the crashes started happening. No result. The game is in the steam folder in Program Filex (x86), but it was there when it ran just as well yesterday.

SH4 is now working after me fiddling with it for a bit, but crashes when I select sonar sometimes.

Hello again Peter,

Thank you for your replies and information.

After doing all ofthe above, except the "steamfix" part (the reasons are as follows: 1. the program is something I'd rather not trust after it sent some data about "bugs" without prompting me and 2. SH3 ran well from Steam folder before anyway) I decided to do the Nvidia part, but what I see is different than what's in your tutorial.

Here's the link: http://i.imgur.com/k9mudJ4.jpg

I've changed the scaling to 100%, didn't seem to work however. I reckon it's something to do with video settings. I'll post a reply after I fiddle with it some more.

Also, just to clarify, the game runs in the menu and loads the mission, but crashes about 10% from fully loading the mission.

If I run out of options I guess I'll have to do the steamfix. However, I'd like to exhaust every other option first.

----

After fiddling with whatever simple settings SH3 has in Video, the game still crashes, but loads the mission much faster when most video options are turned off. Crashes at roughly the same spot, even in windowed mode.

After moving SH3 outside of steam folder into C:\ and renaming it "SH3" the game runs just as well as in steam folder, still crashes at the same spot.

Deleting the folder in Documents also did not work.

Doing a fresh re-install on steam again. Going to verify the files after it downloads.

I've also noticed that after update I have this program: http://i.imgur.com/t9oE6Zg.jpg

----

Okay, it loads, but now I have this problem:

-----

Solved! Checked the intergrity of the game cache, no files were downloaded, but after I did that the game started functioning properly.

You do not need to touch this.
Your GPU is the same as mine, so look at my 2 pictures at the menus I used and the changes needed if you have not already done so.

Here is another option use it for SH3.
I am sure the problem is to do with Steam and the way your game is currently installed.

Thanks for your help, Peter. Turns out it wasn't a compatibility problem.

Yes, steam was what torpedoed my game. But all is well now.

Cheers.

Hi Razoleg
That is no surprise.
If you have Steam it has to be totally removed and is quite easy to do.
The conversion from Steam is simple, effective and works.
