None better than The Bonzo Dog Band...

...and here's a 2010 BBC documentary about British Blues with a title partially inspired by the Boznos; this shows where SRV and a lot of other white Blues players in the USA got a lot of there inspiration (nicking off Clapton Beck, Mayall, etc.) until Hendrix went to the UK and set them all straight about the real sources of the Blues and then proceeded to take the form to places many, many then contemporary and now current guitarists have yet to arrive...

^ In truth, after WW2, American and English blues and rock musicians would spend decades influencing each other. In the 60's, so many English rock musicians were visiting America and inundating the radio airwaves that the term " British Invasion " was coined.

English Musicians would cite such diverse artists from Elvis Presley and the Motown sound from Detroit Michigan to Jazz guitarist great, Wes Montgomery. Talented musicians from England and America would fuse and interweave all of these influences and more into some truly epic bands, artists and songs.

Names like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Robin Trower and George Harrison, among so many others would become household names. Later, Brian May, David Gilmour, Peter Frampton, Roger Waters and Duane Alman, and my favorites, Steve Winwood and drummer Phil Collins would earn well deserved accolades.

There are so many, many others. All of these artists and more would dominate modern music with their sheer talent and brilliance. Other blues based musicians like the Alman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd would shape Southern blues based rock. Their collective talent and brilliance becomes more apparent against the backdrop of what today masquerades as music which I consider as little more than noise.

I will readily admit to being a music snob and I'm fine with that.

There are current artists and guitarists like Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi and of course, John Mayer. These are exceptional artists.

These artists would lead generations into picking up a Guitar and or playing Drums, Piano and the like. This would lead to other innovations like the vibrato technique used by Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton which again, shaped modern music. This would make names like Fender, Vox and Marshall common names in modern music.

Later, other guitarists like Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Morse would not only influence countless people like me to pick up a guitar but also confound us as well with their sheer talent and artistry.

Again, this would lead to the developments of Ibanez and ESP guitars among others in search of new sounds with newer shaped guitar necks and fret board and materials which facilitated vastly improved articulation abilities and speed.

Music is a living thing and has to breath.

It's great to have you back, Vienna. Especially in the music thread where your input has been sorely missed.
How about a great blues tune from the Alman brothers ?

Stormy Monday-Live at the Filmore East in 1971. The original artist of this song was T-bone Walker.

~ Enjoy ~

My tastes are eclectic as well. My tastes run the gamut from Classical to Jazz, blues and Rock. The music I was listening to as a kid was already 30 Years or more old. A music teacher once told me that if you want to learn music, go to the originators not the imitators.

I'm not really a snob, I just appreciate music well played.

Nice, i really like Lynyrd Skybyrd, and the Allman Brothers of course

Another song by Lynyrd Skynyrd - Whiskey Rock-a-roller

Nothing better than put a tape in and drive for hours in the Spit Mk3 back then, listening to them
