Default Let`s Play Silent Hunter 5 with full realism. (Season 2)

Hello everybody!
So, I decided to make another post for season 2 of my let`s play of Silent Hunter 5.
Some of you are pretty active in the comment section on my youtube page, and it will be a little easier to bring that activity here to the forums.
Maybe it will be to some help for people that are new to the game as well. They can come here and pick up pointers that you guys give me on my videos, and improve on their own game.
And of course, maybe I'll grab a few new viewers as well, and bring the total viewer base up to 25 .
By doing this post, I am hoping for you guys to get involved, so I can improve my gameplay as well. We all know I have much to learn.
Season 2 is already well on its way, we are up to 9 episodes thus far, and there is much more to come.

Hi Guys

For those who missed Season 1 you can find them all here.

Post #14 Shaefer's Season 1 Let`s Play Silent Hunter 5 (16 YouTube vidoes)

Season 2 is well under way and I have them all here.

Post #24 Shaefer’s Season 2 Let's Play Silent Hunter 5 YouTube Videos

Good to have a new thread for Season 2 as the majority of people will not want to put comments on YouTube where as here it is easy to do.

Really looking forward to Scapa and "sobers shipwreck mod" to see how this mod impacts in the game play.

Peter

Very nice, thanks for posting. I actually play my 8 th patrol, Narvik, searching for a contact.

The map work is interesting. The setting up of the attack too. U like visual and periscope always up, dont use much the hydro, and stimes lucky not to be seen. Also, u might want to have a speed of 1-2 knots to maintain depth for Torps launch, its more realistic.

I still miss the external view - its nice to watch the torpedoes, and I try not to use it when detcted by destroyers. keep them coming.

Excellent series! I manage to pick up something new with each one.

Unlike many other educational and tutorial SH5 uploads that have been repeated and edited until the desired result is perfect and executed by a "Uber" Captain, Schaefer's videos, uploaded "warts and all" are educational as well as entertaining!

Keep up the great work!!

Thank you for the kind words.
I don't strive for perfection, I aim to survive. You get the good with the bad.

I agree, Kevin.

I think Shaefer under estimates the value of his series as Tutorials to gamers of all levels.

We not only learn from him but also from the advice coming back from Subsim and YouTube.

In episode 10 Shaefer is seen entering Helgoland where you can only refit.

I am I right in thinking that he would have to go to Wilhelmshaven and End Patrol to repair the hull damage?

I suppose it depends on how much unrepairable damage you are prepared to carry when you continue the patrol.

If I can maintain periscope depth without sinking and the analogue gauges are still working, I will usually resupply at the nearest friendly port and head back out rather than return to base.

Especially if it is a long way to and from the assigned patrol area. Those patrols on the west coast of Britain, south of the Outer Hebrides, are a long way from Wilhelmshaven!
