Default New mission in progress Russian Trawler

This is AAR of Russian Trawler mission. I'm working on the campaign
Korean Crisis, this will be a second mission. In all campaign
I want to make a nasty surprises...

AAR:

Captain's log:
Orion reported alone unmovable trawler around 130 miles south
of the Pearl Harbour. Our orders was identify and take photos of this
trawler.

Conn, Sonar - New contact, bearing 330, probably our trawler
Helm - Set course to 330, speed 7 knots, go to PD

After 20 minutes distance was 6000 yards, I raised periscope, take photos
and send it to HQ. 3 minutes later by radio we received message from HQ
about the trawler. It is a Russian spy ship and probably waiting for refuel
and ressuply by submarine. And it is our new order - take photo of the ressuply
operation. We are circling near ship at 2 knots with streamed TA 10 minutes.

Conn, sonar - New contact, bearing 270, very loudy, rapidly rising from
under layer deep. (strong layer at -600).
Helm - set course to 270, torpedo room, flood the tubes 1 and 2 !
Conn, sonar - contact is Typhoon, at high speed, heading direct to us !

3 minutes later :
Conn, Sonar - Typhoon at 5000 yards, accelerating to 25 knots, cavitating
and changing course pernamently direct to us 1
Helm : Hard left to 180, engines full ahead, dive to 600 feets
After we pass 17 knots, engineer reported broken shaft's bearing and speed
droped to 11 knots.

Conn, sonar - Typhoon at 1000 yards and quickly closing ! Bearing 300 !
Conn, sonar - loud explosion from the trawler's bearing, new contac,t looks
like Akula at surface !
Conn, Sonar - Typhoon at 500 and closing ! Russian CO must by crazy !

We was at 1000 feets, I ordered emergency blow :
XO - Collision Alarm, prepare to the blast !
Helm, Emergency surface the ship, all flank ahead !

After 10 seconds Typhoon hard hit our LA near the bottom of the engine room :
Conn, Damage report - TA out, hull sonar out, propulsion out, heavy flooding
in the engine room, rudder and stern planes damaged. After some seconds
we surfaced, heavy damaged, but alive.
On the bow sonar we observed Typhoon. This gigantic beast was probably
satisfied, she slow down to 10 knots, changed course to 90 and dissapeared
in blue distance. Only one sign after the trawler left on the surface - some
debris and oil. Akula was too quiet for our sphere, we don't hear her.

a Typhoon in the pacific whats more a typhoon in open ocean this is wrong

but good mission idea try it in the svalbard top of norway makes more sence.

Typhoons never ever have gone into the opean ocean the furthest they go is north cape, and there are none in the pacific all 6 are with the northern fleet, now only 3 remain.

Default Typhoon

OK, Kapitain,
I replaced Typhoon with OSCAR II, but after some test runs I observed Oscars' large tendency to "fall into the spin" at high speed in sharp turn. The result was implosion of the sub after she pass crush depth (at around 2100 feets). Typhoon is able do sharp turn with less depth changes and don't fall to spin too frequently.

Now, I'm fine tuning triggers and scripts and if all works as I intend, Typhoon / Oscar is very agressive and stop ram attack only after damage player's sub, or player is able to dive to 1600 feets as quckly, as possible.

There is a known glitch that when you collide with something you spin, dont know if its addressed in 1.03 or not so that could be a reason why the oscar spins.

Default The next AAR

This is another AAR from work-in-progress campaign mission.
The workname for this mission is SubAegis and now is in
the fine - tunning stage.

Captain's Log :

We are 20 miles southly from Ullung-do Isle on ASW watch
with Reuben James FFG at 400 feets, course 000, FFG on my six.
She turned on active sonar and start pinging.

Conn, Sonar : New contact, bearing 330, very weak, it may
be chinesse kilo and if it is kilo, then distance is very short.

- Weapons, flood the tubes 2 and 4, set SNAPSHOT, bearing 330.

Conn, Sonar : Loud explosion, bearing FFG ! What is happen ?
- Helm - turn left to 270 and slowly rise to PD !

After minute :
Conn, Sonar, Next loud explosion from Reuben James !
I raied periscope and radio, then observed FFG crews as abandonnig
ship in the life boats.
Conn, Radio : Mayday message from FFG, she has been heavy damaged
by 2 SSMs and sinking. Air search radar localized 2 or 3 helos
incoming from Ullung-do.
- Helm, set course to 150, rise to 50 feets and go as fast, as possible,
we must rescue survivors from the frigate.
Our LA broken the surface by sail, but dive officer made error and sub
surfaced. In the binocular I seen smoke line heading direct to us -
the SSM missile.

Crash dive, crash dive, vampire inbound !

We were very lucky, SSM fail to lock us and continued in the fly.
- Radio, raise the ESM and localize the SSM site !
- Weapons, flood all VLS, set target to the isle for "carpet bombing" !
Then I raised periscope and after few second found 6 lifeboats untouched
circa 2 miles ahead of us.
- Weapons, launch all TLAMS and erase this damned isle from the map !

Conn, Sonar : Large explosion from the isle !
Conn, Radio : No radar signal from the isle, we destroyed them !
By periscope I see 3 helos, they declining to low altitude, ignoring our
periscope and ESM wake heading direct to the life boats.
XO : Captain, commies want kill all survivors, we must stop him !
- XO, we are not an AEGIS cruiser, how we will stop the helos ?
- Captain, we have some Stingers. It was crazy idea, but the only one idea...
- Surface the ship, all ahead flank, give me Stingers on the sail !

As soon, as sail break the surface, I grab the Stinger and shoot down
all 3 helos - they were approximately 100 feets high and 500 yards away.
Ufff, it was snugly, we had luck again.
- Make turns for 4 knots, XO, start the rescue operation !

Con, Sonar : Torpedo in the water, bearing 350 ! Kilo found us and
start the fire !
- All ahead flank rudder hardd to port, set course 75, crash dive,
release active CM !
After quick descent below the layer (in 800 feets) I ordered speed to 10 knots.
Conn, Sonar : It is russian torpedo identified as 65-76 ! ****, it must be
chinesse Akula. (We known, that Russia sold 5 akulas to the China with
full weapon loadout)
- Sonar, where is the Akula ?!
Conn, Sonar : sonar is clear, except wakehomer heading to open ocean...

Conn, Sonar : I hear missile launch, bearing 330, Akula attack again !
After few seconds :
Conn, Sonar : Torpedoes in the water, bearing 330, 100 and 210 !
- Weapon, launch tube two and four, snapshot 330, RTE 5000 yards !
- All ahead flank, set course to 330 and dive to 1600 feets !
In this momment I had only one CM in the tube and I don't want waste it untimely.
When I seen fish from 330 on the HF sonar, I ordered launch CM and emergency
surfacing. After 2 seconds the fish lost us and continue homing on the CM and
our sub rapidly rised on the surface. Then I ordered dive to 100 feets and
listen for torpedoes. After minute I was sure, that Akula's fishes are not
harmful for us.

Conn, Sonar : Loud explosion, bearing 320, lost the wire tube 4 !
Akula is sinking !
OK, surface the ship, rescue operation will continue.

Conn, Radio : I recommend copy radio broadcast.
- Radio, raise the antenna !
We got warning message about SSM sites at Ullung-do with direct order
to destroy them before they can threat the FFG
- Radio, send message to HQ :
- FFG Reuben James sank by SSM site at Ullung-do Isle half hour ago;
- All military instalation at this isle destroyed by our TLAM attack;
- survivors from the FFG has been rescued;
- 3 helos shooted down;
- one Akula sank by ADCAP, no survivors.

From the HQ we got this message :
USS Passadena, You are promoted to AEGIS class
attack sub ! You are authorised to paint the silhouette of the
Tico class CG on the sail !
Congratulation !
