Probably because, RWR draws a line on map, just like the hydrophone.

Thanks for the links, Leitender!

Tycho is right. I use my own map update mod which shows modified hydrophone lines --> I also see RWR lines (and thus the direction) I would like to keep the hydrophone lines, but remove the RWR lines. If I knew how to do this...

Regards, LGN1

Hi LGN1,

you´re welcome. I´m glad to be able to give back a little bit of what I personally have received on information about subs / U-boats in this forum. Btw., this way of interpretation of signals

Quote:
The Metox exploited the fact that once the radar operator changed the range indication from 36 miles (58 km) to 9 miles (14 km), the pulse repetition frequency of the radar's transmitter doubled. Radar cannot detect any reflections returned earlier than half a pulse width so when the U-boat was closer than 9 miles (14 km) the operator would change to the shorter scale. If the Metox set started beeping at twice the rate, the U-boat knew that they had been detected.
I have never read in any KTB. I´m not sure, if the uboat radio operators could interprete the signals in this way as I don´t know if they knew the way ASV radar has been used. What I often read is that they interpreted the change of an intermitting signal to an enduring signal as "They got us".

Greetings
