Default [TEC] How to make multiple sh4 installs

How you can easily make 10 seperate sh4 installs if you wanted to.

here is all you need to do:

if you start with a clean fresh install it would be best but otherwise be sure its an unmodded game with no mods installed and you are certain you have no issues or corruptions. also delete the jsgme "mods" folder inside the sh4 folder.

if you have a new install of sh4 then go ahead and install jsgme but dont put any mods in it yet.

open the ubisoft folder and make a copy of the "Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific" folder found there and rename it whatever you want to call it.

when i made copies of my game folder i called them:

Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific v1.4
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific v1.5
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific GFO
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific TMO
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific RFB
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific FOTRS

All you have to do to make a new install is to make a copy of the sh4 folder then that is the whole game so now you have a new install of sh4.

how you rename your extra install isnt important but the key to making them work correctly is to make a shortcut directly from the exe file in each each version so the file paths work correctly and the only way to do this is to open each install and copy a shortcut of the exe.

when i made copies of my exe shortcuts i called them:

SH4 v1.4
SH4 v1.5
SH4 GFO
SH4 TMO
SH4 RFB
SH4 FOTRS

in the same way you created new game exe shortcuts you need to make new shortcuts for each installs jsgme utility and it needs an indentifiable name as well. this is so your mods are organised correctly and installed in the right place for the correct install you want to use them with. (every new install must have its own shortcuts created so they open the correct game files)

i also make a shortcut copy for each installs mission editor so i know any mission i create for that install will access all the ships used with that install.

take the shortcuts you created and place them in the programs start menu or the same place as your other game shortcuts are depending on what you like. (i placed mine on the start menu and also added them to my desktop)

the next step is to open each installs jsgme to install the mods you want to use for that install

i hope all this makes sense
