Default Uber boss says U.S. market unprofitable amid tough competition from Lyft

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Uber Technologies Inc will continue to lose money in its home market for at least the next six months as rival Lyft Inc poses a fierce competitive challenge, Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi said on Thursday in his first public comments since taking the top job at Uber two months ago.

They have it hard!

Never used Uber and I never heard of Lyft.

I used Uber occasionally when I was on the road as a trucker, and several times when I was in Sweden. It works, in most cases better than using a taxi (which may or may not arrive... at all) and there is some tremendous potential if they can find a way to tie it in to air flights and lodging reservations.

Uber have just lost an appeal against a ruling here in the UK that its drivers should be classed as workers rather than self-employed.

There have been similar cases here in the US of Uber being sued for trying to have their driver classed as independent contractors rather then as direct employees and, as far as I have heard or read, Uber has lost their assertions in court every time...

Either way, it will be safe for actions in all countries when it comes to sexual issues.

So is Lyft better? My experience with Uber is mediocre. Good in Sarasota. So so in Tampa. I think I'd have been better off flying into the Tampa airport and just holding up a "need an uber" cardboard sign at the curb instead of trying to use the app.
