Default U.S.S Chuck Norris targets log

This is the target log of the U.S.S Chuck Norris. Have fun following an unexperienced player doing his best.
Mods used: TMO 2.5, RSRDC, OTC, Operation Monsun.
Realism settings: 90% (Left external camera on, love looking at my boat!)
Ship name: U.S.S Chuck Norris
Salmon-class submarine

December, 14, 1941 4:29
Pos: Long 121 01 E, Lat 20 36 N
Ship name: Kinposan Maru
Attack range: <1500y
Tonnage: 3263t

Sonar operator detected a contact a few hours ago. We decided to dive to periscope depth along its presumed course in an attempt to surprise it. I ignore if it was a miscalculation on my part or the target changing course but it passed behind us instead of in font as we expected. Hopefully, the salmon class is equipped with 4 aft torpedo tubes and the target had a decent AOB. The decision was easy to make. We launched two torpedoes in case one would fail. One of them hit the target, the other one missed due to a miscalculation on my part. We didn't need to surface to finish it off, their ship broke in half with the force of the explosion. These poor souls never saw it coming.

The crew celebrated our first hit until they went quiet. After all, it could have been us. Even with all this technology we are still the ones pressing the trigger.

Tonnage: 4001t

Second catch of our patrol. Funny enough, quite close to our first one. I bet the japs will be avoiding this sector for a little while. Asked everybody on duty to be aware of any enemy taskforce, I fear they might try to root us out. On an happier note, we took only a single torpedo to sink the Akita Maru. My 2nd officer suggested we finish it off. I declined judging the damages bad enough so it will probably sink. I already wasted a torpedo a few days ago on the Kinposan. I ain't going to repeat that mistake again.

Ship name: Momoyama Maru
Attack range: >3000y
Tonnage: 4081t

This was a tough one. The ongoing storm made targeting a nightmare. We fire a spread of torpedoes. One hit. One exploded too soon, thanks to the rough sea. The other one barely missed but at that range and considering they tried to avoid the salvo. I feel okay with only one hit. Their engine went dead we obviously hit something important. Ordered to surface the boat and shoot a few AP shells under the water line. Then we left it to sink.

Febuary,5,1942
Pos: West of Manilla
Ship name: X
Attack range: <1000y
Tonnage: 1021t

We recieved a message from command to change of base of operation from Manilla to one in the Java sea. But, I decided to make a stop near Manilla. Was about time we play with our japenese friends a bit. We had time to use a tug boat as target practice with the deck gun before any task force could reply. Then we headed to our new base. Didn't want to push our luck. As a result, I couldn't keep a more detailed report. My men really enjoyed it after nearly a month of nothing.

As a side note, it is my birthday today. But this is something I would rather keep to myself. I bet the crew would let me have it if they knew.

With a little bit more than 12000 tons. We are first so far. Winston must be eating his socks away being bested by a team of greens. Command scheduled us for departure the 15th of this month. So I gave my crew some time off. They deserved it.

Does SH4 give you the option to name your boat? I must have missed it.

It's more a matter of modding a few files, but this thread will show you how--

Ill be starting over a new career. Reason being I pretty much sank these ships without any escort, warship or even plane ever remotely threatening me. So ill be removing all mods that interfere with tmo difficulty. (rsrdc and possibly OM)

It starts to be boring. xD
