The version is 12, not the last english 13.

I have v13, but someone must autorize me to upload it.

Best regards.

Downloaded FOTRS from cdsubron7's link (Subsim downloads) uploaded by RockinRobbins. The title says that it's 1.2 version but after enabling the mod, the loading and in game screens and credits point to v1.3.

I remember v1.2 with the carrier upgrades and such. But the mod I downloaded from Subsim and I'm currently playing with, has new sounds, graphics, interface, is very stable and includes v1.3 units and weapons.
I'm pretty sure it's v1.3. The download title may be misleading. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

And a few words, if I may...

RL can be hard sometimes. After a year and a half, or so, things are a little better now. And of course, the sea is calling again. Time for SH4!!

Webster's GFO, Webster's S class mod, LST_TMO_V2, some sound and harder AI tweaking, time for fun!
Next was Keltos Jyunsen mod. After reading before 15 years Hatsimoto's book about Japanese submarines, I always wanted to command one. Great thanks for this!!

Then, watched a clip on YouTube about FOTRS v2. And another, and another... MultiSH4, v1.4, here we go. What a mod!! Great sinking model!Graphics, difficulty, campaing... all nicely done. Great work Maddy!!

But the Emperor is calling... fleet boats must wait. FOTRSv1.3, Jyunsen mod, Japanese career v2 for FOTRS, FOTRSv2 zones imported.

What can I say? It's a dream come true. FOTRS isn't the mod I used (very briefly) before years, full of bugs, CTD's etc. v1.3 is very stable. Great graphics, great campaign, superb gameplay. I mean, SUPERB GAMEPLAY!!

I recommend this mod to everyone without second thought.

Ok. I used v13 downloaded years ago. If the version in SUBSIM Forums Downloads is V13, some moderator please change the title.

Best regards.

Yes - FORTS is a wonderful optic Mod, but lacks realism and gameplay depth ... very suitable for casual gamers.

I just wonder what made MadMax was (he had such beautiful models of destroyers created) ... I think he is, unfortunately, has died - or is now living a very different life much more fulfilling.

In my opinion, realism is subjective to how a player feels a WW2 sub sim should be like.

RFB for example. A considered hard core realism mod. You can attack a convoy, dive deep and silent and escape like a gentleman. Just like stock, except for the sub maneuverability and the (unfinished but excellent) damage mechanics. I found myself not attacking other ships than freighters and DD's because they sink the stock way. I hated to drag and drop the bridge crew every time I dived.

TMO. A hard, challenge mod. You can dive with an S class to 400 feet and maintain that depth for many hours. A destroyer sees your periscope at 10000 yards with heavy weather. You dive to 150 feet and the aircraft see you like you're surfaced. Ships sink a little more slowly than stock. LST for TMO gets things much better though.
I've been playing sub sims since 1987. I love a good challenge. But the sensors in TMO are far overpowered.

FOTRS. Based on TMO 1.7 if I'm not wrong. Hard escorts but not godly escorts. The damage model is vastly improved with v2.0. I use it in v1.3.
You just have to copy the zones file from v2.0. The campaign is great, lots of sub hunter groups that can surprise you. Lots and lots of new ships, planes etc.
A well balanced mod if you ask me. Challenging but not overly done. And certainly not an optic mod. The stock destroyers are laughable compared with FOTRS. And the campaign is much, much different.

Don't get me wrong. I've played all the super mods. Every one of them has a different approach to realism and gameplay. But I think a casual gamer will have a very hard time trying to evade 2-3 destroyers in FOTRS.

All true. Great comment.

Hi Guys
This little brother should not be over looked.
TMOwtw2.5
This is not a new MOD, but rather a simplified version of Trigger Maru Overhauled 2.5
It is meant for the younger or casual player and was intended as a middle step between the stock game and TMO 2.5. It is only intended for use with Silent Hunter IV patched to 1.5 or the Gold edition. As many as possible of the features of TMO have been left in place, the improved graphics, the command structure and all of the fun changes made by TMO over the stock game.

Here are some of the ways it differs from TMO:
The boxes, tails and ship outlines on the navigation map are like stock.

The Nomograph is gone.

The Next/Previous Unit keys, < > are enabled.

The enemy sensors are toned down a bit. Watch it, they are still very dangerous.

The Thermal Layer is very strong. If you are under the layer you can run right under an escort at 1/3 ahead on Silent Running and they may detect something, but they will not be able to locate you well enough to attack. The Thermal Layer is your best friend.

The Gramophone icon has been replaced by a ship draft chart. The buttons to work the Gramophone are on the bottom right corner of the chart.

The clock is a gold 1939 Hamilton, because I like it.

The deck gun loads in 4 seconds.

The torpedoes are very reliable during the early war years and get even better after mid 1943. If you want to change back to the poorly performing torpedoes that were in use during the early war years, you can enable the Historic Torpedoes MOD in the Support Folder/Optonal MODs.

The Sub underwater marker is back, sort of. It has been replaced by the wTw logo. There are MODs to remove the marker or change it back to stock in the Support Folder/Optional MODs

The Captains desk photo is the iconic Betty Grable pin-up pic, again becuase I like it.

Enable order.
TMOwTw 2.50
Any Optional MOD, the order does not matter.
RSRD, maybe.

Credits:
Firts and formost, Ducimus Rapax for his incredible piece of work. This MOD is mostly TMO with a few things hacked out.
This MOD is a joint effort of Yooperbacker and dgrayson.
Thank you Capt. Scurvy for your MAX Optics MOD

This MOD is dedicated to an Old Jarhead who guilted me into doing it, so that he would have something to do while recovering from service related injuries. Get well soon Squid. Semper Fi!

As mentioned by others the archive in the download section (Dropbox link) is corrupted:

Code:
FalloftherisingSun_V1.2_SH4V1.5/Data/Objects/AI_Fleetboat_01.dat - checksum error
Corrupt header is found
Total errors: 2
It would be nice to have a clean archive and even better to have the latest version
of FOTRS.

Found instructions for upload here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=155786.

Thanks.

I can fix that for 1.1 and 1.2. I'll do it tonight.

@Rockin Robbins
I have "falloftherisingsun_v1.3_sh4v1.5_en" and "FOTRS_V2_SH4V14_DE" on the hard disk.
However, no uploader that would provide such a large file ...

Great! Let me take inventory of what I have and we'll get something together. Maybe you can shoot me the file on Google Drive and I can upload it to Subsim, where it can live in peace and prosperity!

FOTRS is also the most beautiful mod ever made for SH4. In appearance, it gives the flavor of GWX for SH4. So, we can take the damage mod from FOTRS v2.0 and copy it to v1.3 to get the best of both worlds? I'm up for doing that and posting the FOTRS Frankenstein mod to Subsim. Let me take inventory tonight and see if I have all the ingredients.

I'd love to breathe some life into this neglected but beautiful mod of Spanish origin.

Oh that sounds fantastic
It is years since I played FOTRS, but I do remember being very impressed by it
