Did you actually select a mission? You have to actually sit through the "briefing" (I'd skip it, at least after the first time, it'll be the same for a while) and THEN click on a mission (round german cross icons on the map), hit "request mission" in the window that pops up, and then close the map. After that, if you talk to the guy again and select "start patrol", you should have a mission icon on the map.

I just discovered that the TAB key toggles three mini-map modes. Pressing Shift + TAB closes the minimap and the expandable nav tool tray.

Closed, minimal and maximal. One can resize the minimal and maximal manually, and use the TAB key, but it seem bugged. The maximized-mode doesn't like being resized it seems to me, but the smaller one can be without bugging out.

---
I noticed that one of the two crew manning the cannon, is actually rotating a wheel, synched with the boat ocillating sideway, for keeping the canon barrel level.

---
Also, I found a couple of hotkeys that seem to close the tubes in sequence, wonder what they are for. I get the message "Closing tube1" on pressing , (comma) and . (punctum), "Closing tube2" when pressing the keys again, and etc.

Edit: It seems that the two keys I mentioned cycle through the selection of the five torpedo tubes, backwards or forwards.

I saw people complaining about not being able to tell what date it was. If you let the mouse hover over the clock, the date will appear as a tool tip.

The icons are not showing up on the map to select.

The icons should show up just off the eastern and south-western coasts of Great Britain.

Try scrolling to the left.
The missions are along the Eastern Coast of Britain, and in the Western approaches.
You won't see 'em from there.

EDIT: Beaten to it!

The Home and End keys should do the trick for you.

Cheers !! A few more!!

1) Can i zoom right into the deck guns sights like SH3 and SH4? Seems i can only go so close and am offset.
1) Where's the time compression displayed? I can press the keys and see the increase/decrease, but not what the actual compression is?
3) And lastly is there hotkeys for the periscopes, UZO, and deck guns or have i got to make my own way there every time?

And is there a list anywhere of the game keys? Not the F1 screen that comes up but just a list?

Thanx again

Thanx

Okay will try here, but I am also using SH3/4 keys mod by CCC that reverts most of SH5 keys into those used in Sh3.

1. click on the deck gun, on the upper Left hand side there next to the AP shell there is a small icon looks like binocs click on that to zoom to diff settings.

2.TC speed setting is displayed on the upper right side where you can manual click on the +/- or use the num pad it displays what tc you are at.

3. NO! Gotta run to the stations.

Hope this helps
