Exceedingly cool!

Just looking closer, someone's GoPro seems to have gone between shot one and shot two! Hope they were two separate flights.

If you like digital art have a look here...it begins with aircraft and after wiping the drool off yer keyboard, scroll down to the bottom for some naval examples

In some other stills I saw the GoPro was facing forward, above it's not.

Unless it's a different Lanc in each shot, one is from the Can Lanc and the other the Brit.

Nice find.

Let's put this in perspective. They are so far away, you can't even hear it. It took several seconds for something going the speed of sound to reach them. The ginormous freighter in the video looks tiny. Now consider how big it looked. Imagine being right there.

Commenters figured the boat was somewhere in the order of 2.5 to 2.8 miles away, depending on their guess at humidity. This means they were some pretty severe lumps of earth falling back into the sea to make those splashes! The shockwave hitting the clouds at 0:13 was pretty cool too.

The volcano is in a location which is probably familiar to many SH4 players - on the headland of Raboul bay, a regular target for photo recon missions. http://www.volcano.si.edu/volcano.cfm?vn=252140

Next time you're trying to sneak in between the Japanese patrol boats, you can at least console yourself that the sim doesn't also model rocks half the size of your submarine crashing down.
