Default No Sound

I have the Combat Naval Pack, with SC installed. Suddenly the sound has quit working. No sound, no menu sounds, no voices, no music. I've searched but haven't found any threads relating to this.

Anybody know why this might be happening? I did an uninstall/install, and it was fine again. But then, again, all sound stopped.

Are you playing the stock game or one with "improvements"?The NCP version seems to be rather less than the original, but I am not sure what has changed in it to make it like this.

I'm using the game (SC) directly from Naval Combat Pack. The same loss of sound occurs with 688, from Naval Combat Pack. When both games are first installed, they work fine, in terms of sound. Then, after playing them a few time, the sound is gone.

DW works fine, in terms of sound. I'm playing the older games as a way of learning DW.

I am running the Naval Combat Pack on my Windows XP laptop and it works fine except for two things. One, I get the occasional crash, which I don't mind (as long as I've saved the game or I'm not too far into the mission). Two, the only sound I get is the music. Is this normal? Should I be able to hear the human voices when I give orders or sonar finds something? Should I be able to hear distance explosions if I hit a submarine with my torpedo?

This may seem obvious but have you checked sound options tab (different volume settings there) ??

Regards

Yes, I made sure the boxes were checked and I even lowered the music volume slightly and increased the sound effects volume, but I only got music.

Also, I just messed around with Sub Command, and all the sounds work fine.
