Arctic Convoys Honours.

Finally the brave men who worked the Acrtic Convoys are to receive a medal, the Arctic Star. Alongside this Bomber Command veterans are to receive the Bomber Command Clasp.

It's been a very long time coming.

Nooo. It took them a long time to decide to award them a medal. Please don't confuse awarding medals with honouring people. Just because there is no medal does not mean that the nation did (does) not honour them.

Many many military members are honoured and they never get any medals.

I think it is great that they did decide to award them a medal. They deserve it. But I would not say that these brave men have not been honoured simply because they did not have a special medal for them.

I wonder if my late father will be issued one (I mean the family)?....he got his medal from the Russian Ambassador in London over two decades ago.

About bloody time for both the Arctic convoy medals and the clasp for Bomber Command. Long overdue IMHO.
