GWX install problems

I have tried to uninstall SH3 for a clean install and have down loaded the 1.4 update, but when i go to reinstall I am not asked for my disk security code(why) I made a separate folder for the install, I get to the install page,and get this message
Set up identified the following problem(s) with the selected folder
Modded files were found. (did I miss something on the install??) This Expansion must be installed over a clean copy (I have the disk) I reinstall (without having to type in the security code) and then download the patch, 1.4 which does install, but every time I get this same message can anyone help me thanks in advance,

When you uninstall SH3 you need to go to your My Documents folder and delete the SH3 folder there, otherwise it will try to install all the old saved files. I'm not sure if that is what's causing your problem, but it's a good thing to remember.
