Kursk Sumarine "accident", or better typically russian negligence
Does not help the crew, or their relatives.
Popov knows that he will be held resonsible as the fleet commander. So, "... as in russian tradition of the russian military, his immediate reaction on this day is to do nothing." Accidents happen, but in Rusia there is complete ignorance or denial of responsibility to the soldiers involved due to russian corruption and cleptocracy. "Wait for rescue by the russian government". What Putin (=the russian government) did? Nothing. Hats off to the crew and russian soldiers. Death to their government.

That was some sad viewing Catfish.
That maintenance issue on the Kursk should never have been allowed to happen and, that makes me wonder, what if some of these nuclear missiles they've got are also suffering with the same maintenance issues as well?. What if they fire some of them off and they start exploding inside their silos?, they're gonna have a nightmare on their hands and, so are we.

As for Kursk I may have watched this a while back will have to watch again to refresh and give pointers but I did spend a lot of time researching with this particular boat.

The documentary itself is pretty accurate the Ustinov report made for very blunt and chilling reading at the time.
What is known is the 65-76A was responsible, this type of torpedo had been discarded by the west back in the 1960's and has been known to sink submarines. To say they had poor maintenance would be an understatement I think, a decade of complete under funding if any at all, plus the rife pilfering was just a disaster waiting to happen.
