I think there is a parameter in the scene dat that controls reflections because I remember that some mods provide a full reflection of your sub on the surface, others a blurred image and others a very faint one. But that one you already probably know

I also think in the 3D model files was a parameter for the reflection, maybe look at it with Silent Editor?

I've also seen a 'reflections' option in S3D somewhere... I just cannot remember which file - most probably the sub files.. so I'd imagine there would be a terrain one somewhere.

hello Alberto and Vanjast,

yes, there are in several places (like sub .dat files ,ship.dat files...) the ''water reflection'' feature but nothing is altering the land reflections. i can't see anything in land - terain files that can be edited with s3d and alter the land reflections so i am wondering where (and if) these tweaks can be made somehow.

@Alberto: the 'water reflection' nodes at scene.dat (and at skycolor.dats ) are altering the overall reflections of enviro and not parts of it. i am running after to find -if there is- a way to totally switch off the land reflections on water

That's coded in the SH3.exe last I recall.
hello Jeff,

seems that you are right to look at this place

i opened the sh3.exe with a hex editor and i found at the description a ''TerrainReflectionShader''.
is there a way by changing some bytes to switch off the TerrainReflectionShader or you think that it is more complicated than this?

The TerrainReflectionShader calls a pixal shader which may be in the Kernel.dll?

There may be a boolean switch to turn it off but I've not looked that close at it.
you think that there is any chance to locate,in case that exists, this switch ?

I have tested it with my improved d3d9.dll and edit the shader instructions so that they do nothing.

The TerrainReflectionShader is not only used to reflect the terrain on the water but also used for reflection of the environment(clouds, (sun)light, ...) on the water.

TerrainReflectionShader on:

TerrainReflectionShader off:

Hi Seeadler ! Your test is very interesting you know. I would be delighted if you could send me the sh3.exe file with the TerrainReflectionShader OFF. Since i've bought the game, i have many bugs with water reflections, propably due to my graphic cards ... You are my last chance...
