It is all becoming a bit awkward after 'the visit', including the NATO prequel.
It is not May's fault, she was against brexit but has to carry the can for the likes of Boris Johnson and Nigel Fagare, who should be in charge for all by now, including the blame for trying to make the best of a divided society, and opinion.
And Trump.. big deal, no deal, i love England, i hate England, i support NATO, i do not support NATO. I mean apart from the elephant being in the room, how should anyone understand, plan, or calculate with this rubbish.
'Interesting' times ahead, not only for England.

A warm welcome yesterday for President Trump and today a frosty meeting.

Quote:
TRUMP'S BREXIT BLAST I told May how to do Brexit but she wrecked it — the US trade deal is off, says Donald Trump

In a world exclusive interview with The Sun, the US President said Theresa May had ignored his advice by opting for a soft Brexit strategy

^ quote from 'The Sun'
"the US President said Theresa May had ignored his advice by opting for a soft Brexit strategy" ? Really?

"Johnson tipped as future PM"
"The US President described the former Foreign Secretary as
“a very talented guy
. [...] I have a lot of respect for Boris. He obviously likes me, and says very good things about me."

Of course, if Trump says Johnson would be better...
Next: Farage for foreign office, and Corbyn for financials?

As for 'Realpolitik' following article 50 beating 70 if you obviously like to see it that way, the 'UK' (further called 'England' here ) does not need to pay anything and can walk straight out of the room. No deal.
This will then apply for all sides. No. deal.

Problem for the EU is that it is no sovereign state, so legally it probably cannot sue England. But.. there are 27 single sovereign nations who then will. No deal, and money back. And just walking away would also do some reputational damage to the UK - if it can't trusted on past obligations, why should anyone trust it on future ones?

There are however some pro-brexit who would prefer to pay, coming full circle back to Realpolitik:

Regarding T.'s tweet further north, i wish England a happy time with him and all that (but yes i suppose it's a prank).
We are definitely in the midst of a political minefield atm Kai but I reckon your choice of examples above could have been better thought out.

There were allies with Great Britain in the fight against Napoleon, Germany being amongst them and as for dividing and ruling Europe surely there is no better example than that of Germany.

As for future trust I readily admit I'm proud of our history in particular over the two world wars and surely it is plain to see that Europe has learned to trust Germany....twice over.

I'm a brexit supporter and voted accordingly. I simply post an image here or there to show the depth of feeling in many parts of the UK (the north especially) and whilst not fully endorsing the actual contents or way it is displayed it is nonetheless indicative of much of the population, what percentage wise probably depends on what side of the equation one is most comfortable with.

Even the president of the United States now sees fit to weigh in on the Brexit path Theresa May is taking.

Donald Trump has said, amongst other things, that if the prime minister is successful in her plan - formalised on Thursday in a White Paper - then that would make a future trade deal with the US far less likely.

So how come key player Brussels remains so uncannily quiet about the paper?

Brussels badgered the UK for months and months and months about coming up with a detailed proposal on how it envisions the future EU-UK relationship after Brexit. Now they have it, surely they have an opinion about it?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-44816048

I wait with bated breath.

Still, I hope this time some EU people react a bit smarter, and more benevolent (for my lack of a better word); time to reintroduce a bit of sanity in the current world.

Donald Trump told Theresa May she should sue the EU rather than negotiate over Brexit, she has told the BBC.

The US president said on Friday at a joint press conference he had given her a suggestion - but she had found it too "brutal".

Asked by the BBC's Andrew Marr what it was he had said, she replied: "He told me I should sue the EU - not go into negotiations."

She defended her blueprint for Brexit and urged her critics to back it.

Well, he would do, wouldn't he?
