I do feel that the Tory Party has to do something about it's Europe problem. I think the only thing that can cure that is a full-blown split between the eurosceptics in the party and the europhiles.

As for the UK as a whole, a discussion on what exactly the UK is and is not and the status of it individual components is now sorely needed.

More than a few people up in this neck of the woods are now of the opinion that the Brexit referendum was really a symptom, not only of the Conservative Party's internal quarrels over the EU, but of English nationalism itself.

If you want to be gloomy about the whole thing you could argue that the referendum result represents the will of the majority the English people and is therefore incompatible with the continued existence of the UK itself. In order for Brexit to happen, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland must cease to exist.

You know something is truly out of whack when one of the SNP's more outspoken supporters actually proposes a plan so mad, it's actually sounds almost reasonable in contrast to the omnishambles the Tories have allowed to happen:

No or little doubt about that but I believe there is a growing list of countries in the EU who want a deal....the alternative may well be something similar to what Trump is currently in the process of creating.

It is in EVERYONES interests to come to a deal.

It only takes one EU country to reject it. We got a hotch-pot soft brexit plan that could result in a mess. We shall see when we fully 100% leave if that happens.

Despite the fact you state the obvious I find it rather peculiar that certain countries vote a certain way and the others tend to fall into line on numerous occasions.

Hey Jim you will not believe this but in a radio poll a week or so go the country would have old JC as PM if Labour was in a coalition government with another party!

It seems a little yes for old JC that Labour is held in check with their partner. Looking at the last Con/Lib one the Tories still had most of the control and threw the odd bread crum Libs way to keep them happy.
