Hey hey!

Hmm some background info...lets see here... my last and only sub sim was oh boy *enters time machine* Silent Service for the Atari ST I was probably 10 years old and it was a blast.

Finally got a decent computer and decided it was time to go on the hunt again. I have Silent Hunter III in hand and am looking for the full realism experience. Just finished watching OLC's Video Tutorials on manual targeting and I'm pumped.

Now I just need to wade through all the mods.. boy there is a ton of em

I have been registered a long time, but I had never been to the forums to post before.

I used to play 688(i) but I got bored with it since all of the missions were strictly scripted. I had heard about Silent Hunter's dynamic campaign mode and it sounded interesting, so I picked it up a long time ago and then, for whatever reason, I never really played it. I recently pulled it off the shelf, blew off the dust and installed it again.

The process to put together a firing solution is enough different that I went out hunting a tutorial, which I found in the downloads section here. However, when I try to download it I am told "You have exceeded your daily allowed download amount" of "up to 3 files a day" even though it may have been over a year since I was last here and downloaded anything.

Anyways, it links me here, and tells me my download limit will increase if I make a post, so here I am!

Ahoy there! As an avid WWII history fan I also fly Il2 and belong to the wonderful Il2 community at SAS. When I recently got into SH3 and SH4 it was fascinating to see the conflict from another perspective. I wondered if there was an equivalent to SAS for the Silent Hunter Series.

There is! So glad to find you guys after a little research. My standard spec SH3 and SH4 were quickly transformed with more polished menus, missions, sounds, models, the works, what a great group.

For over 25 years now, from when the internet was made of wood, I have always regarded true 'Simmers' as a superior breed to mere 'Gamers'. The members here clearly illustrate a devotion to detail and a consuming interest that are the hallmarks of a great sim community.
