Default This is pretty neat, simulation of the Hudson crash

We did know but this is a simulation of the hudson crash I saw for the first time.

This is pretty neat.

In the upper right part of the screen, the airspeed and altitude are shown.

The lower right corner shows (in writing) the dialog between Sullenberger and the CP...you can hear the transmissions between the aircraft and the tower/departure control.

That was a powerful animation. Even though we all know the outcome it is still hard to watch.

Wow. Nice find. I never listen to the tapes. He is as cool as cool can be under these circumstances. One hell of a job!

Am I strange for wondering if there were any pets in the pressurized hold?

Nah, it is a pretty nasty thought that some animals might have been trapped onboard, tho I don't recall hearing about anything like that. I wonder how many people actually fly with pets

Well, it's possible there were some pets, but the hold may not have flooded!!!

It's amazing how calm pilots can sound when under pressure. I once listened to a recording of a Skyraider pilot in the middle of an engagement with a group of 3-5 MiGs, and the only time he ever really sounded excited was I think when he had like the entire flight right on his six, and even then he was still using his 'indoor' voice

I'll have to see if I can dig that recording up again, someone posted it on the Il-2 forums a long while back. It was pretty neat to listen to.

Please let me know if you do find it, I'd be very interested to hear it.

I like how he ignores the flight controller and concentrates on landing. Cool head.

That is taught, part of pilot training. In an emergency your first priority is to the aircraft [passengers] and people on the ground. Focus on that, your checklists and emergency procedures, and then if you have extra time, contact ATC. I don't think he was ignoring them, probably just a little busy.

He is a true hero. There should be a Nobel prize for an accomplishment like that. I hear when he flies now and announces his name, the cabin breaks out in applause every time. Don't blame them really.

Thanks for posting that Fish, good find.
