Lavafall.

My place where I barricaded myself, there's a block of stone I placed to the left, I mined out the other one so I could get back out at sunrise.

Decided to make it to an outpost. WIP here.

Finished. Umm.. Try to ignore the floating tree there, I removed it after I took the screenshot

Castle, early in its development. There's a tunnel going from under my outpost way over to the castle.

Awesome shots.

Dowly, it's totally random. Iron Ore and Coal are relatively high up (Coal is generally higher than Ore). Red stone, Diamond and Gold are down closer to lava, likewise Obsidian. Try venturing into some caves, you'll find some on the walls.

Meanwhile at my base, I completely underestimated the distance between my base and the shore and the height of my base....

Ah well, digging ahoy!

Well, I've started to come by some Redstone in my deep-mine, at around 50 blocks deep. Ah well, like you said, digging continues.

Raptor finds his new underground home.

Though he wonders why the hell he hasn't thought of making an exit before...

Few shots from the inside of my mine, not really much to look at as I've spend most of the time deep down trying to find iron and stuff.

Emergency exit to the boat shack

Secondary exit, I made 2nd floor to the bunker which entrance can be seen in this one

Stairs leading 41 blocks down to my mine

And the current state of my 20x14 mine, going down layer by layer

EDIT: Is there somekind of restrictions on rarer materials that you have to use a pickaxe made out of certain material to mine it? I don't get anything from Redstone nor gold block with my stone pickaxe.

EDIT2: Nvm, found the answer, iron pickaxe or better needed.

The Underground Harbour prepared for flooding.
I have no idea how long this damn tunnel is...but the torches are placed every five blocks, so I'm going to go and count them in a minute.

EDIT: It's approx 210 blocks long!!

Water physics is a bit odd at times.

Damn, that is epic.

I went for a wander on another island, took out the boat and set off into the wide blue yonder. Got a nice ore load, was exploring down a mine, already whacked two Creepers...found some gold, so was planning to blockade the skeleton archers I saw, forge a nice iron axe and dig the gold out...jumped up to start blockading...

Fsssssssssssssssssh....

BOOM!!

Also, another reason to love Minecraft, you just never know what you're going to stumble on next...and it's not always a Creeper:

Creepers are annoying, and they leave a big hole in the ground afterwards.

Yeah, some very nice scenery in Minecraft, stunning at times.

Found a long winding cavern, that I happened to fall into. Managed to explore some of it before getting killed by a spider.
No idea if the "pit" I fell into is the only way into the caverns, I have to return and continue exploring it.
Found some lava and water in there.

Really scary and creepy to explore those caverns.
