Default Best Widescreen Mod?

So I have an ASUS G55VW that displays everything in glorious 1920x1080 resolution.. I downloaded a Widescreen mod that kept crashing my game upon loading, so what is the best and easiest one to use?

Must be compatible with GWX 3.0

Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final

Hi all, captains !!

This is the final version of the Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final, in which there was a number of changes, both large and small. Has been added to the console and enhanced devices. The navigation and attack maps are now visible at the bottom edge. Added gramophone, which is always at the top of the console for easy access. Change the location of AOB devices. Added additional icons on the left pane crops up. UZO now has zoom from x6 to x10. So as you will find some other changes and amendments, some of them are shown in the screenshots.
During testing, performance problems were identified with the mods as WBs USAM v69.61.1, as well as the GWX 3 Wilhemshafen, St Naz, Schluese and xtra ships V7. The reasons are not fully identified and are not entirely clear, perhaps somewhere not coincide with a resolution of 1920x1080 or d3d9.dll with some models of units or their texture. Nothing yet on this issue I can not truthfully say. With stock GWX and SH3 vanilla works flawlessly. In general, the case of each, use the GUI or not. In the future, I will look for reasons CTD and with the above mods.
Previous version Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 can be downloaded from SH3COMMUNITYMODS (User: Maik, Password: Woelfe), screenshots are for illustrative purposes.

Compatibility with other megamods not checked.

All the best and good luck !!

++ Ahnenerbe ++

Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final

When you unzip the mod there are 2 main folders

Folder 1 > Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final

Folder 2 > SH3 Commander

There are no instructions as to how to install this mod.

AFAIK, there are only two mods that will allow SH3 to run in true 1920x1080 resolution:

- Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080, compatible with GWX3 only

- Van1920x1080, compatible with NYGM3.6D with Hitman's GUI only.

So, if you are using GWX3, there is only one choice.

I like using makman's MaGui Mod, which includes a widescreen option.

I then use a bunch of stuff from Aces, which is all compatible, again made so by Aces

The best widescreen mod is a monitor with a magic button "4:3 in wide". I have such a monitor, set the resolution to 1360x1024 and I am 100% ok!

Doesn't your technique just give a 4:3 aspect ratio stretched to a 9:16 screen? I have used this approach and I find resulting distortion annoying. All round dials become 4:3 ellipses, which on a 23-inch monitor is very apparent. Others may not be bothered by this. YMMV.

Also, setting the game to run at 1350x1024 does not give the 1920x1080 resolution that OP is looking for.

The .tga files for 2D screens in Widescreen MaGUI are 1360x768 resolution. Widescreen MaGUI, like CONUS' and Rubini's mods, will only give you 1360x768 resolution, regardless of what d3d.dll settings you use, because the high-resolution data is not in the image files. And the 3D screens are visibly not 1920x1080 on my monitor, regardless of settings. AFAIK, VanJast, and then Ahnenerbe were the first to provide true 1920x1080 resolution images for display.

Yeah, I would like the 1920x1080 resolution but like the one mentioned because of what has been made compatible for it, in particular the work that Aces and makman have done

I may do a separate install to try Ahnenerbes', and I have a laptop that runs at that resolution
