Default Arma 3 Alpha and developments

after much time without much info and the bad adventure of the greek devs arrested in greek, there is some new action going on.

First thing i have to note is that they ll go to the Steam Platform ( personally i would have liked an option without steam, or other programms ) and lastly that today they will release the alpha which you may get access too by invites ( if interested i can send some invitations possibly) and even preorder the game ( digitally for now) very cheap at this stage ( 25 euros for the alpha, beta and eentual game release+ 2 editions with extras, the most expensive costing 69 €).
some links :

are you ready for Arma?

( hope the links show up well, if not if a mod can modify / correct it)

They did say a couple of weeks ago that if it were not for a Steam release it would not be out in 2013.

Thanks for the links.

Could I please have an invite? Would be much appreciated! Been looking forward to ARMA III for years

Certainly was a shame about the whole Greece fiasco. Waste of time and money, they were obviously innocent.

Only problem is I am not sure how well my computer will run it. I had Arma II on my computer for a short while thanks to one of my buddies and I thought I could barely run it (Turns out I was in power save mode) in full on entertainment mode, I could chug the game out pretty fairly it seemed.

My laptop has Intel i7 3610QM @ 2.3 Ghz
nVidia GTX 660M 2GB
and 16GB 1600mhz RAM

along with a 7200 RPM HDD (I want to change it out with a SSD but there is only one slot so I have to wait until I can afford a large enough SSD)

So yeah. Let me know what you guys get performance wise because I am curious as to what kind of hit I will take.
  • Minimum:
    • OS:Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
    • Processor:Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
    • Memory:2 GB RAM
    • Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM
    • DirectX®:10
    • Hard Drive:10 GB HD space
    • Sound:DirectX®-compatible

  • Recommended:
    • OS:Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
    • Processor:Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
    • Memory:4 GB RAM
    • Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce GTS 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better
    • DirectX®:11

for now, i am on my laptop only and i have an
i 7 3610 QM at 2.3GHz
8 Gb DDR3 ram with an intel HD graphics 4000...(?) but has a geforce gt650m
because actually, in the dx diag it gives me only that although it has a ge force gt 650m ?
EDIT : Checking google, support if there is like a kind of switch)
EDIT : in control, panel , devices , found teh nvidia control panel, which has a thing to select on of the 2 cards or leave it to autodetect, figured i also have to update some drivers too

but at home i ll put it to my home computer which is way better in overall

at least there i can run arma very decently , with high settings at full HD, despite some choppy moments ( way less, before OA, actually OA performance wise made the game much better on my system)

On the good side, halfway into the download of the alpha! and at the start, the store and the whole arma forums were so laggy because of the influx of users

For the alpha invites, i think i have to be patient and wait for them to be added into my steam account gifts.

I just got it and played it a bit. It works surprisingly well considering it is an alpha and my computer is utterly outdated; it only has problems with the highest texture and object quality settings and viewing distances over a few kilometers. I'm guessing this will be even more improved upon as the game gets updated (by which I mean they will fix it so that it's as unplayable as it obviously should be. ) I've not noticed many obvious bugs, though the mouse controls seem a bit wonky.

There aren't many scenarios yet, just a few showcase missions for various features and a couple of MP missions, which I've of course yet to try. Thankfully the editor is in so that problem can be resolved rather quickly.

So far it's looking pretty good. I suppose we shall see how it turns out when there's more stuff in the game.

The invites are going to be available next week, on the 14th. Also note that they are going to be for the Lite version of the game, so no multiplayer or mods unless you buy it.

ah yes, somehow i missed that we have to wait to get the invites.

yes , for me too it runs well considering the settings ( i raised them quite a bit, especially the textures and teh quality parts, being at least on high , apart from shadows. i get decent fps and even if its not so fluid fps, its not even too low, i would say 20-30.

Another nice thing i like is getting out of the vehicles , and hear the typical summer sound of the cicadas

also started reporting on issues etc, testing
