Default Ocelot

Hi guys,

Heres a serious request. Could a modder take up this challenge?

Can someone please (od be sooooooooooo happy) do a detailed model of an Oberon class British sub? Specifically the Ocelot?

Just a rec that Id love to see someone take up.

Thoughts?

Default Modding Subs

having read your posts, i could not help but wonder why you don`t try yourself to make a mod submarine. really, it is not that difficult. i myself did not understand anything about SHIV-modding 5 month ago. i just started to play around with the silent3ditor and existing subs. first thing was to put a november sail on the le terrible hull and call this thing Project 669 and i thought " yeah , thats it!".wasn`t too hard.simply download a free 3d modelling program and try doing different shapes to get used to it. than, take a simple model from SH3 or 4 and redesign it the way you like. see the posts on this forum, if you have any questions. there are SO MANY posts concerning "how to mod" it may be well enough to write a book on it. I really liked to have modern post wwII subs to play.in fact, having seen the existing mods made me decide to buy SH4 in the first place. Now, I made over 20 fully working cold war subs myself because i was unsatisfied with what was there before. ALL MYSELF! wouldn`t have dreamt about it in the first place. so JUST TRY! i`ll help if i can, too!

Wow, I never would have guessed that you just started 5 months ago. I've been working on the LA for over a year now, my knowledge of the file system has greatly improved but my 3d modeling still sucks.

Yeah, they suck indeed nope, just kidding. have you had time to review the mod data? in the meantime i`ve made up some english menu files which need to be checked over and did some work on the subs. right now i am finishing the Zulu SSK and SSB variants. after their implementation i will take a look at the campaign files so that we`ll have a releasable beta.

Lol funny guy. I checked out the boats only for the mod data. Looked like a couple you were still working on, but the 3d models look excellent. English files would be a good thing, I had to brush up on my German while looking at it and I didn't do half bad. Another thing as well, I've got the 3d model for the Sturgeon down just need to work on all the files for it, I also wanted to make a few more tweaks to the Permit but that might wait until I can get all the boats together.

Have found a 3D model of the French Barracuda class and something that looks like the Astute.

Default Sturgeon SSN

Here's a few pics of the Sturgeon in game. Still need work in the sail with it's mast config and lookouts.

Default Permit SSN

Here's a reworked model based on jhapprich's Permit. Both Sturgeon and Permit hull sizes are accurate. Note the small sail in proportion to the hull. I looked into this aspect pretty extensively to get the size just right. There are also draft markings forward and on the rudder. For the most part the forward markings are pretty accurate when compared to the depth gauge.

Looks good. Will send you the George Washington, Barracuda and the Astute later.

Great job! looks like your skills aren`t so bad , afterall guess we should do some custom extensibles with a resized radar to make them fully retractable into those small sails.i`m looking forward to your next release! CU

I definitely agree on the custom extensible objects. A SJ Radar looks funny on a modern boat.

The Soviet Navy's Project 611, also known by their NATO reporting name of Zulu-class, were designed as attack submarines, but six were converted in 1956 to become the world's first ballistic missile submarines, one armed with a single F-11FM Scud missile and five others with two Scuds each. The missiles were too long to be contained in the boat's hull, and extended into the enlarged sail. Soviet submarine B-67 successfully launched a missile on 16 September 1955.

The design was influenced by the German Type XXI U-boat of the World War II era.[1]

The success of the converted Zulus prompted the design of Project 629, the Golf class submarines.

A total of 26 boats were built, entering service from 1952 to 1957, 8 of them in Leningrad and 18 in Severodvinsk.
