Icon1 How to identify ship using radar?

Hello everyone,

I have a SJ-1 type radar installed on my Balao class submarine and according to description it could identify ship as friend or foe.

However i don't know how to use this feature.

Does the green line on Navigation map pointed towards ship means that this is a friendly one?

Hmmmm. What description are you referring to. The real radar showed a white blip. No friend or foe.

Hello Rockin Robbins,

according to the "Office links, Info Boxes and 50 cal V2.1" mod the SJ-1 radar is able to identify ship as friend or foe. However i have no clue how to check that in SH4. I heard, that in the stock 1.5 SH4 version there is no description for radar at all. I never played unmodded SH4.

I found this reference in a quick search:

To my knowledge, there is no such capability in SH4, modded or not. (Unless radar contacts in the unmodded game show up in blue/red colors. But I believe they are shown as grey until they reach visual range.)

Hello razark,

Thank You for the reply and link provided - i read the part of the manual about IFF radar feature. As far as i know it does not work that way in SH4. The player still need to identify the ship visually.
