Default Can't get TMO or Monsun or Atlantic to work

Hi all
Please help me out with this one.
I've been away for some time but now I'm back.

I run the "Silent Hunter 4" (stock) and the "U-boat missions", stock.

My question is:
1. I've downloaded the Trigger Maru Overhauled 1.7 and
Monsun (OpsMonsun_v705 and OMv705_to_v710).
2. Zipped them.
3. Copied the zipped folders to JSGME and........
4. After activating them in JSGME they just crash. Every time they go south...

All I get is this message: "File not found: DATA/MOVIES/BACKGRND/Back1.bik"

I've tried complete reinstall SH4 with or without U-Boat Missions. Activating the TMO and/or Monsun both single and both together with or without any other mods.

I'm sure at least some of you have encountered this and I hope for your swift assistance.

Thanks in advance!

Did you make a new folder in the main SH4 folder & name it MODS?

If not it may be a layer problem (just guessing)

Just put the JSGME app in the main SH4 folder & make a new folder (MODS) in the main SH4 folder. Extract (unzip) all the mods into the MOD folder, then activate them with JSGME.

If that's how you already have it done you might have a corrupt download.

It's hard for me to help aside from the order/place things go in because I don't think I've ever gotten a single corrupt D/L. My problems are almost always driver or layer related.

Thanks Brenjen,

So, if it would be a "layer problem"? Would you know what to do?

Next - Your description on JSGME is exactly what I previously have done many times with other mods have used this way...

Regarding a corrupt download - I've downloaded the mods in question several times now, with the same result.

I'll try your advice about the driver and replace it wih another one.

If I, by any chance, find this is the answer to the question I get back to you so we all know how to solve this.

Again, thanks again for your help.

In the mean time, go sink the bad guys!

All the best from Sweden!

If I'm reading you correctly, the problem is right here:

The game won't read something in a zipped folder. It has to be unzipped into JSGME, or unzipped to the desktop and then placed into JSGME (the way I do it). If you mean you unzipped them and copied in the unzipped folders, then it should have the Data folder inside another folder which has the name of the mod on it.

The layers meaning - if you have the mods unzipped into the wrong layer of the folder system they won't work correctly. You don't put the mod folders into JSGME; it should be layered like this:

C: program files / Ubisoft / SH4 / MODS / OpsMonsun_v705 and OMv705_to_v710

& JSGME should be:

C: program files / Ubisoft / SH4 / JSGME

Of course as mentioned above they need to be extracted (unzipped) using winzip/winrar etc. not place into their respective folders in their zipped (compressed) configuration & you have to manually make the new "MODS" folder.

When you install JSGME it creates the MOD folder within SH4.......then you have to take a snapshot of the stock game files with JSGME and then unzip and move the files into the mods folder, then install them via JSGME.

the link is the best "How TO Install MOD's" I have yet to come accross.

Lads,
Thanks to all for being so helpful. And viper fast!
Sorry, seems like I wrote that a bit too quickly - didn't really pay attention to what I actually was writing..

Steve - of course I really meant I unzipped them first. Don't get it why I didn't see that.
Thanks for pointing that out, just to sort out possible misunderstandings.

Brenjen - Layers, got it, didn't see it was the folder structure.... and of course you were right about the driver. Switched it for an older one and you see - it did the trick!
Now TMO is running smoothly. What an improvement, really adds a lot.
Since I'm running an nVidia GPU (8800GTX) I've seen this before with other sims. Do the guys at nVidia really understand what they're doing?
Later I'll give Monsun a try.

captgeo - I'll check this link.

BTW, is there even another one worth trying? Or other mods?

Thanks again, catch you later!

Glad the driver idea got it sorted out for you! As far as other mods; I use RFB & RSRDC & I really like it.

I use the same as above, but with Op Monsun for the U-Boat side of the game.
