I think I made the convoy mad.
So, it's the summer of 41, and off the west coast of Africa, I get a radio report of a convoy, and head towards it. I make contact, and see a large convoy, with FOUR escorts, three Black Swans and a Flower class. I start to make a night surface attack, when the lead Black Swan some how spots me and begins to fire, along with every other idiot with a gun. I dive and go deep to get away and try again. However, I decide to be MORE AGGRESSIVE and I turn towards the convoy, which for some reason changed course towards me, put on flank and head for PD. I pop up my scope, fire off a hasty four torpedo spread at the convoy, and fire a snap stern shot at the Black Swan that is by now, shooting at my periscope. I again ring up flank and go deep when...BAM, the Black Swan is blown in half and goes under in less than a minute. I rig for silent running, chaos erupts in the convoy as a small tanker is hit twice, and an ore carrier is hit once. I evade the remaining escorts and break contact.
Here's where it gets fun, I plot a new intercept course, in the meantime the tanker goes down, and the ore carrier is listing and drops out of formation, I maintain contact with the convoy, and the next night go for another surface attack....except now the convoy has EIGHT escorts, six Black Swans and two Flowers. I made someone mad it seems. I slinked back off into the night like a chicken. |

Never see a convoy gain escorts after an attack before. You sure you there were only 4 escorts or did you miss the other 4?

Positive, before the attack one escort was on each side, and one was front and one back. After, one on all the sides and one on all the corners.

Did you save and load the game after the attack?

How strange
Did you stay at under 35 kilometers distance after the attack?

I'm not sure, I think so...but may have gone past that. It was the same convoy though, it had the missing spots where the tanker and ore carrier used to be.

If you went over the 30 something km limit there is a possibility that the game engine re-created the convoy? Merchants ok, escorts doubled? very strange but cool anyways.
