I didn't know the US had special warfare mini subs?
I don't know if this was reported already, but since when did we have mini subs like this?

Cool, mini subs. Much safer than sending a full size sub into enemy lines to put marines on enemy territory.

These guys need to spend some time reading Nigel Calders Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual.
Maybe an isolated arc and spark that scared the snot out of the electrician. Shut it down and investigate after you cool and ventilate the space now that could take several hours. But six hours battling a blaze? I suspect a 'blaze' would have consumed that boat in minutes.

Yep! We called the smaller version an SDV and began testing those with the last remaining 637 boats

So you had exactly one until November.
What do you expect from a post cold war pentagon project? It was supposed to cost 69 million (25 for serial production) and went up to 300 million!! On top of that, it didn't even work as advertised. But there's still the trusty old Mark 8 SDV proven and in service. But in this one the Chuck Norrisses ride wet, while the ASDS was a real submarine.

Must be one of the most costly programmes per ton. That guy in Denmark could make a better one. |
