Default Windows 7 64 bit and SH4

Has anyone managed to install SH4 v 1.4 onto Windows 7 64 bit. If you have, did you have any issues and if so what did you do to overcome these issues. A new player over at Ubi Forums is struggling to get his game to run and is in need of some advice. The game has installed with no reported errors, but when he launches the gme the cursor spins and then just returns to the desktop.

Thanks in advance

Maverick

My only issue was a black screen and I couldn't see the game.
Search around fot the solution.

Based on the description it could be anything, there's just too little to work with. Also there's already a numbers of threads on Windows 7 +SH3/4, a combination which by default should work 100% without any special measures. A search will probably be the swiftest way to get an answer.

Win7 Pro 64bit here, no problems. I even have multiple installs of the game, including a 1.4 version.

Windows 7 and SH4

No problems here. I have Professional 64-bit. I installed the SH4 program in another folder by choice, not the default directory.

Default Win 7 64 bit

I installed in a new folder at root of C - worked great until Microsoft updates then it stopped working. Have tried to reload it a few times - get that annoying circle (like the hour glass of XP) and then that disappears. Microsoft says it isn't compatible yet it worked initially.
I still use XP on another machine - not as high end as my Win 7 Pro 64 bit.
Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with SH3 until I purchased an online version from Amazon.com instead of using my old SH3 DVD. Although it's annoying to buy it twice, have you tried a downloadable version? Amazon has SH4 for $5.99; evidently, whoever put together the downloadable SH3 resolved whatever compatibility issues there were with new OS's. The same should be true for SH4.

I think with the SH3 DVD, the problem was the Starforce DRM - there's no problem with the game itself, but Starforce is not 64-bit compatible (and an awful piece of software to boot). SH4 never shipped with that type of DRM though, so you'll be fine.
