By golly, this one does look interesting.

A 1970 cooperative movie by South Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong about a payback commando operation to strike at the North and China.

"From Saigon to Dien Bien Phu".

I'll try to find an English trailer.....or better....

Short sad scene from the 1992 movie.

"Dien Bien Phu".

A recommendation...if you can get hold of a copy read "Street without Joy" by Bernard Fall, probably the definitive book of the French Indochina period.

He was there and wrote from personal experience...and died in Indochina.

Highly recommended.

ST Discovery currently gets broadcasted on German TV. Three episodes seen so far, I wanted to like it, but I'm done with it. Terrible show. And who would have thought that the costumes could get even worse than the pyjama parties of classical ST?

"John Carter". Early last century Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a whole series of books ( I suppose you'd now call them "Steam Punk Genre" ) about an American Civil War veteran who ends up on Mars

Great reading.

After the books came out there were a couple of attempts to get a movie going about John Carter, but .....didn't eventuate.

About a decade ago, give or take a few years, Disney bit the bullet and produced the movie. It's a GOOD film. But Post Vietnam War till recent times Sci Fi blockbusters were being released thick and fast, and audiences and reviewers drew parallels to "Star Wars", "Avatar" etc etc, and ultimately didn't appreciate it. Fickle so and so's.

Burroughs work is the root of the Sci Fi genre. Everything old is new again.
