World War Z

I hope you didn't pay 10$ to see that in the theater.

It's good...but it could've been soooo much better.

And Brad Pitt needs a darn haircut.

It's good if you can't tell the difference between a Herc and a Cub.

Basics people. I hope the book would explain better how they got around so quickly, from Israel to Cardiff (or at least crash near enough to walk the rest of the way!) and then teleporting to Canada?!?!?!?!?!

One last point on this film (I did enjoy it but it really could've been sooooo much better) - The Iridium sat phone needs line-of-sight to the satellite, laying in your bunk below decks on some vessel just ain't going to work, zombies or not.

A film I'm in the middle of at the moment is Passport to Pimlico - the title alone has put me off for my 39 years on this planet, but after plumping for reading the blurb about it it seemed interesting and funny. And it is.

Yes...the movie jumped around waaaayyyy too much and had some errors...

Agreed.

Right up there with Zombieland.

Love it.

The only relation between the movie and the book is the title...oh, and zombies, that's it, absolutely it. I haven't even seen the movie, and I don't need to to know that there are very little similarities which is a crying shame because the book has so many scenes in it that are crying out for a movie adaptation. One of the things I do like about the book, that I don't know if it is covered in the film but...judging by the *shudder* fast zombies *shudder* I doubt it, is the real problems of killing a zombie with modern munitions. Most munitions are designed to deliver fatal shock to the body, embolisms and such through rapid changes of pressure, but the 'Zekes' don't suffer from embolisms, nor do they suffer from pain, and so long as they have motor function, they will keep moving. So you take all our weapons designed to kill living creatures and throw them out of the window because suddenly HE shells aren't the area killers they used to be...sure they'll take arms and legs off, but that's what...seven 'Zekes' out of a crowd of several thousand, and they will just keep coming...not fast, not like some sort of retarded mound of ants, but a slow inevitable wave, and you can outrun them, sure...but eventually you're going to get tired and have to sleep...and they don't need to sleep.
THAT'S what makes the horror in zombie fiction, they're not unstoppable through speed or some random superpowers, they're unstoppable because of the sheer volume, and their robustness to modern 'shock' weaponry.

The book addresses a lot of that, but the film seems to rely more on the 'modern zombie' flick, fast zombies, occasional jumps and some random sort of 'zombie wave' action which whilst impressive, would be better if the zombies weren't fast...

Hate fast zombies...it's just wrong...

None of that is in the movie except for fast zombies....and damn...they are FAST.

Faster than Left 4 Dead zombies.

I really should read the book.

Brilliant stuff, classic film.

But yeah, the Battle of Yonkers is a classic bit of zombie literature.

Just come up from seeing Rush! I quite enjoy it and it's good decent film! Both actors do a good role in their characters.
Of course all the events were before my time so, I do not have a comparative base!

It has few companions being one of his best Oh wait you like Pearl Harbor.

Sorry I could not resist. I think Argo is easily his best film. The only other movies that Affleck is in that I really like are Good Will Hunting and The Town.
