Excellent! The deck gun platform now really looks like it should, and the cross section is also very much better but I think it should be a bit more "fat". The V Boats had huge volume hulls.

But is in the first picture (lowered gun platform) the reworked cross section already present? I would say it wasn't yet?

I'll try to post later pictures with the differences highlighted. For now the model you have shown is 100% the Argonaut, as the extra external tubes were only installed (AFAIK) in the Narwhal and Nautilus -the two ones with raised gun platform-

good. but since we are making a narwhal we'd need those 2 extra tubes wouldn't we ?

or start with the Argonaut, and lower the guns platfrom to the deck ?

from 1942 four external tubes 21 inch 2 forward, 2 aft

Submarines of WWII erminio bagnasco, p. 219

btw on page 218 it states that Argonaut only had 4 bow tubes..

now, a twist.

She was also fitted with a Torpedo Data Computer (lack of which likely inhibited her ability to score with torpedoes), new electronics, and two external torpedo tubes for storage.

maybe they werent shootable, just a creative way to stow torps?

they look the same as the British Class T's external tubes, I'd say shootable !

YES YES!!! Always start with the Argonaut as I have already explained. The Argonaut has the gun platform at the deck level, and the Narwhal and Nautilus just had a second platform with the exact same shape as the lower one, but raised above it. Once you have the basic Argonaut (Low gun platform and only 4 fw and 2 stern tubes) you can just add a second deck gun platform with the exact shape but raised over the deck, and you have the Narwhal/Nautilus already!

I have tweaked the excellent picture posted by AVG to show clearly that the side part of the platform does not curve to the outside as in your model, but is instead VERTICAL. It's the hull, when curving to the inside, what makes it appear as protruding.

And here is a scheme that shows it better:

And this one shows in blue what was ADDED in the Narwhal/Nautilus over the original one from Argonaut:

thats the hardest part for me to edit, because the 3d proggy thinks im bonkers for making only one little slab of deck skinnier
gosh, this is really getting to me, i have been so intent on getting this done, i found myself eating out of a thing of gorgonzola cheeze (considering im not much of a cheese person, scary)
