Default New member reporting for duty!

Permission to come aboard Sirs!

OOD: I am very happy to ship out with this top notch crew. I was commisioned in 2008, but was MIA for most of that time due to poor officer fitness reports (my own ineptness), and a frustration level matching a man who had been at sea and was AWOLF (absent without licentious fulfillment) far too long.
I started back at the game after immersing myself in WW II submarine literature, and have pretty much exhausted the genre. My interest in subs was because of the fact that my father was an eighteen year old sailor, fresh out of boot at San Diego, on the USS Downes in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. He was anxiously awaiting turning 20 years old so he could meet the requirement for joining the Silent Service. On December 8th, the age limitation was dropped, and he was at the Ford Island submarine base reporting for duty by lunchtime. He served on seven war patrols, two of which were on the USS Bowfin 287, now a floating museum at Pearl Harbor. He is on eternal patrol with many of his shipmates as we put his ashes in the water by the boat after he passed on February 6th 1998.
I have a problem finding enemy ships due to the red target square indicator disappearing when I get close to them. My radar and sonar basically take orders from no one, and are pretty much useless. I will address those minor issues in another thread though.
