Ship horn mod
I’m reading Das Boot. I did not know u-boats had horns. It makes sense. Any way to fix up a mod that you can set a key to when surfaces during harbor ingress/egress?

I would love a ship's horn hahaha as long as it is the historically accurate sound.
Love the horns in world of warships Rofl.

I recall reading somewhere that they were foghorns, so assume it was air-driven, don't know what pitch or how powerful tough.
--edit-- Yup, found the book; When the U-Boats came to America. There's a part about U-151: "On May 28th the fog was heavy and the U-Boat remained on the surface, frequently sounding its foghorn." Last edited by ouPhrontis; 10-11-18 at 05:20 AM. |

See also a mention here:
http://www.u47.org/english/u47_pho.asp?page=13 Where it shows on the conning tower where it was fitted. If you're using chrome, you can use Ctrl+F and type "foghorn" without quotes, to highlight it's occurrence on the page. |

Found out more;
The VII were fitted with Tyfon air 'whistles', two I believe, running off compressed air. "The tyfone air whistle can be operated from conning tower and from the bridge." Almost certainly like this: http://www.uboatarchive.net/U-570/U-570Plate12.htm Last edited by ouPhrontis; 10-11-18 at 05:46 AM. |
