Default Back to SH3!!!

I'm back! After abandonning this version, first when SH4 came out, and again when 5 came along, I've seen the light.

I recently bought a notebook, Win 8.1 and was wanting some game I could play on it. It has a small keyboard attached with a 'hated' finger pad instead of a mouse/trackball thing. OK, so I attach a mouse, fine.

I tried a Steam download of SH3, thinking the graphics might be OK and having failed with SH5. Voila!! It works fine and looks great. I have it installed on a mini-chip plug-in.

It is all I need, modded too. New career starting. I still have a desktop, but this is for the road. I'm experiencing first love again, meaning realizing why this game is still around.

Welcome aboard! I haven't tried SH4 or 5, but I like SH3 just fine.

Welcome back!

I played Silent Hunter before it was SH1. Loved it. Thought it was the best game available at the time. Never had an interest in U-boats, so I never tried SH2 or SH3.

When SH4 came out, I though this would be original SH reborn. Found it OK, but never had the immersion experience of old SH. Tried SH5 and found it gorgeous but too scripted for my taste.

Finally tried SH3 (modded from Day One, of course) and the thrill is back! There is so much that has been done with this game, that you can make it into the game you like.

SH3 is fast approaching 10 years old, but thanks to the work of all the modders who still actively support it, it is still fresh and new.
