Default Multiplayer AI

Ahoy fellow kaleus,

I have recently commenced playing a generated multiplayer game in SH3. I got it working through tunngle after a couple of trys. My question is if a convoy is sunk, does the AI generate other enemies as my SH3 wolfpack sails around. Also, is there any way to compress time.

To the bottom with them!!

Hi ther steel harvest welcome to subsim

1. with SH3 Generated mission i dont think or have never seen addition enemies appear

2. time compression is not possible in multiplayer eg six player mission 4 uboats 5000-7000 mtrs from Convoy last two uboats 12000-14000 mtrs away
if the far away boats couls use 64x-128x time compression every other player would have to do the same but if you are 1800 2800 mtrs from ships including escorts you would be a dead ducky

3. Written Missions now thats like a blank canvas to a painter you can have what ever you want in a mission with in reason eg
early war mission Febuary 1941 48 Merchant Ship convoy 5 Escorts 2 Hunt 1 class Destroyers and 3 Flower class corvets
Convoys Approaches the Rockall Banks say Grid AM1928 at 22:00 10/2/1941 other escorts will arrive say 40mins into game so you have time to attack convoy and be ready for 4 escort reinforcements
writing missions is fairly easy its all date/time driven i could have you writing missions in 3 hours its like riding a bike you may fall off a few times but you soon master it

4.SH3 MODS GWX3 is a fine mod realy enhences SH3 also there are GWX 3 missions in the downloads section of Subsim

5. Download link GWX http://www.thegreywolves.com/ big mod 7 bin files of 200mb each but worth the wait

6. I will look out for you on Tunngle if theres anything i can help you with feel free to ask
also when in multiplayer games and you get KIA dont leave the game stay in gods eye mode as an observer zoom into other veteran that have had SH3 from the begin 2005 and watch how they glide and dance past escorts sometime slow sometimes fast when escorts are in attack run also hiding under crippled merchants is a good tactic waiting for you
tubes to reload

7. Also would be good idear to get a headset for subsim teamspeak its the place to rub shoulders with your fellow captains
meeting up for multiplayer games and great for when in the heat of battle somones watching your Six in goods eye mode and says to you watch out steel harvest blackswan clossing on you six 1200mtrs away badass escorts them with the hedgehog forward firing mortar bomblets

Default GMX3 Download blues

wow, what a run around trying to understand this GMX3 Gold download. The link had no results for GMX3 Gold download in search. I suspect my recent purchase of SH3 through steam has me up to date with the latest patch..Im fairly confused and growing frustrated..sorry venting..I just wanna be able to access the missions you and others have developed...

ive written 7 new Stock SH3 Multiplayer Missions Link Below
download unzip with winrar then copy n paste all mission folders into SH3 Data Multiplayer missions English and your done

Im still using Windows XP. I will be updating my system in the near future. If i download winrar for XP will it still unzip your files mate?

Hi steelharvest you should have no problems downloading the missions ive got an old hp desktop with windows vista i downloaded all the gwx bin files

PS More missions to come ill just add them to the folder zip them and upload them to subsim
as you become a more accomplished player the the missions will get harder
elite escorts hunter killer groups and aircraft its trade off knowing when to sneak past the escort screen at 1 knt rig for silent running (Z key) when to go flank & hard left or right rudder when to go deep 160mts plus

if you see me tunngle give me a shout & ill host the missions so you can have a look at them also in SH3 Multiplayer Games only the host needs the mission file

woot woot, got the GWX loaded. It has some cool upgrades however I noticed that the position circle for my sub is missing, the damage to hull indicator is missing and the icon identifying my sub facing on the map is missing. Is this normal?..if not, is there a fix? I rather liked those indicators.

Short answer, it's part of the mod.

There are a few mods on subsim that will restore those items.

Slightly longer answer:
GWX went for more "realism" in the sense that you wouldn't know exactly how much more you sub could handle.
Also, you wouldn't know exactly where you were with the external camera.


I know the changes (as well as the bearing indicator on the binoculars) can be "undone".
You will have to make a tweak of the SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\menu_1024_768.ini to restore the bearing indicator in the binoculars, as well as the "AP" shells for the deck gun.
Should be as simple as deleting the semi-colon ( ; ) at the respective entries.

The other two (I think) are files that need to be replaced to work.

There was a thread that specifically listed the needed changes, but I'm unsure were it is at the moment.
If I get a chance I will try to search for it.

Best suggestion is to search for something similar to "AP shells in gwx".
Should provide you with a place to start.

I've "replaced" a few things removed by GWX as I was making a few mods of my own, and I needed to have a "frame of reference" to work with.
But unfortunately SH3 and SH4 are giving me some graphical issues at the current time, so I haven't played either in a while.

Also "SH3 Commander" has an option to restore the hull indicator. It also makes a few other tweaks such as "faking" thermal layers, so you might check that out as well.

Hi Steelharvest sorry i didnt get back to you the orange Umark in gods eye mode did you make a copy of your SH3 install so you have a stock SH3 install as well as a GWX SH3 install if so go into your GWX install open data folder then open up Misc folder scroll down to the bottom of the page delete UMark.tga file
then copy and paste the UMark.tga file from your SH3 Stock Unmoded install and there you go you have the orange UMark in your GWX SH3 install

if you dont have a stock install of SH3 PM me your email address and i will reply and send you the UMark.tga file from my stock SH3 install

Sorry about the delay, things have been quite busy lately...
I almost forgot that I posted in the thread....

SH3 Commander is a program that temporarily "mods" SH3.
These are usually historical tweaks, such as when a particular U-boat was available, etc.
I would suggest it, primarily for the addition of the "thermal layer" tweak.
Plus a few other things it make REALLY simple. (Such as the Hull %.)
