CTD issue

For some reason, whenever I save my game in mission and come back later to finish, I have a crash to desktop during loading. This has become a major issue lately since whenever I have to leave my computer for extended periods of time, I have to return to base to save in order to keep my career intact...

Current mods are GWX, SH3 Commander, H.sie's mod pack, SH speech, and Blitzkrieg's convoy routes on map.

Any idea what could be happening?

Hi Hambone
Ctd's when loading the game may be a compatibility issue.
Loading from the shortcut keys or the taskbar can also be an issue if you are getting ctd's from loading the game here.
You need to make changes to the SH3.exe in the Properties tab.
If running OS10 try compatibility mode OS7
If running OS7 try compatibility mode XP.
Running your applications in administrator mode from the Properties tab may also help.
If you have SH3Commander always start the game form the main Commander exe, the compatibility does not need to be changed but should be run in administrator mode.
Like you, I have experience ctd's in the past when loading the game but no longer.

I once read that with gwx it is recommended to save at least 50km from shore and out of rendering range of other ships. Each time I have saved, I have met the above mentioned conditions. I also make sure that I am surfaced to avoid that sinking feeling when the game starts.

Berbster, I will try compatability mode. Didn't think of that. I am running on Windows 8.1.

Edit: Compatibility mode fixed the issue. Thanks!
