Oh that's not what I meant. I mean what mods do you have activated currently? Just FoTRS or do you have others activated as well?

How do you raise the periscope, do you raise the scope by clicking on it when you're in the control room, or do you use the menu bar in the bottom left corner?

Keyboard:

Insert and page up are your two periscope control keys. Delete and page down lowers them.

To many players forget because they are gui dependent that back when this sim was created most of us were used to keyboard commands and NOT dependent on a mouse to play games like most are today. There is very little that CAN NOT be done by using the keyboard alone without a mouse.

SOME MODS WILL ADJUST THESE KEYS PLEASE READ YOUR DOCUMENTATION

I'll assume you have tried all the possible buttons for both periscopes.

I'll assume you have tried all the possible keys for both periscopes (keyboards can differ somewhat from the diagram posted).

I'll assume you have the correct game version for FOTRS.

I suggest you shelve FOTRS, until someone who knows the ins and outs of that mod, can troubleshoot your problem.

I myself lost some of the functionality of my keyboard and mouse, when I installed Win 7. However, these were mostly little used 'auxiliary' functions, so this seems rather odd.

are you using v1.5 of the game? it wont work if you are using v1.4 and haven't bought the ubm expansion for it to update it to v1.5 very few if any mods will work for any version of the game other then v1.5

another note is if you use any zip probram to opem mod files other then 7zip they can be corrupted and cause all sorts of strange issues.

it is also possible your game has modded files left behind by some other mod or modding efforts have changed some files so replace your games main "data" folder with then backup copy you should have saved somewhere and then delete the jsgme "mods" folder and run jsgme to create a new freh one, then try reinstalling the mod using a fresh new download and open it with 7zip. doing this will eliminate the 3 possible aras of corruption, game, unzipping it, and the jsgme "mods" folder has ben corrupted.

i use WIN ZIP PRO. I NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT. Thank you Webster for help. The problem is that i have about 10 mods in the mods folder.i used win zip to extract all the rest of the mods and they all work fine.some of them are
OMv705_to_V720,OpsMonsun_V705,Typhoon Standalone Beta 0.1,IJN Jyunsen B mod v 3.9.9.9.9.3,Typhoon GE,Alfa US_GE,OMEGU_v300_pkg,Red Ice Shield Operation, and a few others. Im so upset because everything works except raising the scopes.I tried the originator of the MOD at www.acesofthedeep.com

but that site is non existent anymore.

it doesn't matter if other mods work when unzipped with winzip or not, that proves nothing and yes some mods wont have issues but most will and all I can tell you is mods unzipped with anything other then 7zip can and often do have files missing or corrupted that cause all sorts of issues.

I can only try to make you understand but if you don't want to hear this, what more can I do

as for finding the download, im not sure what is going on with the aces of the deep mod team. for whatever reason they didn't upload their mod here for members to be able to download it so if the links don't work anymore I guess the mod is just lost to us unless someone can upload it to our servers here to preserve it for use by everyone who wants it.

at least for now, this is a working link to download FOTRS - http://www.gamefront.com/files/14694...the_Rising_Sun
