[TEC] How to add SH3 music to SH4
Hi!
Just wanted to share this info.. I love the music of SH4, but I also enjoy he old music of SH3. I have both the original games so I decided to add the old SH3 music tracks to the new game so that both the new tracks and the SH3 tracks will be played according to the different states you are in the game. Then the game will have even more great music tracks! How to add the SH3 music to SH4: * Open the file: DATA/SOUND/MUSIC/music.cfg * Replace all the content with this: Quote:
* If you have installed the SH3 game go to the folder DATA/SOUND/MUSIC/music.cfg * Copy all of the files EXCEPT (This is important) music.cfg. * Enjoy both the SH3 and SH4 tracks NOTE! You can open ogg files with Media player 11, so to test how much you should reduce the volume of a SH4 file try one file before reducing volume of all. Then you know what level is equal for the SH3 and SH4 music files!

Kake, this is some great work, the variety of music from both games is a nice touch, and a welcome addition.
In stock SH4 there is a slight pause between the music tracks, maybe 2 - 3 seconds? with this uh, mod, in place, the tracks seem to 'run together'. with your experience working with these files is there a way to re-introduce this pause with this modification?

Cool!
Personally, I go into battle to the strains of Carmina Burana, or something equally stirring. I haven't played about with the in-game sound files, I just use the gramophone. One thing I must test is whether, or not, the DDs detect you easier if you have the gramophone playing - Remember in Hunt For Red October that the sonar-guy aboard the US sub heard "singing" just before Red October engaged the caterpillar drive and disappeared? |

I'm sorry - Didn't see that post. I haven't really thought about that - but after I read this post I started to recognize it while playing. I guess the songs must be edited manually to add the "pause" between. Have you tried adding a higher value to "fade time"? By the way when I heard through the files I recognized there is a missing part of the SH4 volumeadjusted song called Battle_3.ogg. It's supposed to be 2min and 9 seconds long - but mine was only 1.20. Can you check yours and see how long it is, and then PM me?

I'm not sure about the certainity line. It would be interesting to try to edit it and see what happens.

This sounded good, an improvement....
[GENERAL] CertainityTime=4 MinDuration=40 FadeTime=8 im going to try this today... [GENERAL] CertainityTime=6 MinDuration=50 FadeTime=10 I think it sounds smoother... could just be placebo effect though...

Yup!
Just go to the directory DATA/SOUND/MUSIC directory. Open the music.cfg file located in this directory in notepad. Take a backup first, so you can undo it if you regret Replace the contents in this file with this : Quote:
